No Deposit? Yes Please! Counting Down The Best NJ Online Casino “No Deposit” Bonuses

Posted By Robert DellaFave on February 20, 2017 - Last Updated on February 24, 2017

[toc]So called “no deposit” bonuses have become a staple of the NJ online casino industry.

These offers are gifted in the form of bonus balances for use on a site, and are typically awarded immediately after a player successfully completes the registration process.

As one might infer, players are not required to make a real-money deposit in order to capitalize upon a no deposit offer. This works out for players because it allows them to “try before they buy,” and possibly win a little cash in the process.

For casinos, the upshot is higher acquisition and retention rates.

In terms of monetary value exclusively, NJ online casino no deposit bonuses come off as strikingly similar. But an examination of the particulars reveals subtle, yet impactful, differences.

Suffice it to say that $20 offer on one casino is not necessarily the same $20 gifted by another site.

In this column, we run down the industry’s best no deposit bonuses, and offer our thoughts on what makes them a good deal.

Compared to determining the best NJ online casino welcome bonuses, figuring out which no deposit bonuses come up roses is a bit more straightforward.

In our analysis we’re essentially looking at three contributing factors:

1. Monetary value

This one is fairly obvious. The higher the monetary value of the bonus, the better.

2. Turnover

Wagering requirements factor in heavily. A bonus with a turnover requirement of 1x or 5x the bonus amount is substantially better than one with a 20x wagering requirement.

Given the generally low bonus amounts, it’s simply not realistic to wager a bonus 20 times and have leftover funds.

3. Fine print

If only the winnings from a bonus are redeemable, and not the bonus itself, that’s a red flag. Other restrictions, such as whether the bonus is restricted to select games, also acts as a negative comp.

Typically, there’s some sort of trade-off between Nos. 2 and 3, where a bonus with high wagering requirements doesn’t impose any other restrictions.

Likewise, bonuses that aren’t redeemable for cash typically feature lower turnover requirements.

Note: For our purposes, we assume that players are opting in using our exclusive NJ online casino bonus codes, when applicable.

The best no deposit offers at NJ online casino sites

#1 – Pala Casino

The no deposit offer from Pala Casino is New Jersey’s best, but that’s not to say it’s without flaw.

On the plus side, Pala Casino caps it bonus higher ($30+) than any other NJ online casinos, with the bonus funds broken down as follows:

  • $10 casino bonus
  • $15 Bingo Bucks
  • $5 registration bonus
  • Free spin for $1,000,000

Both the casino and registration bonus require a 20 times turnover on slots, and 100x on other games (video poker, table games). That on its own would be something of a pedestrian deal.

It’s the 150 free ($0.10 each) bingo tickets that elevate this offer.

As far as we can tell, there are no wagering requirements attached to this segment of the bonus — the only requirement is that tickets be used on 90 Ball Bingo games.

Any winnings from these games are immediately converted to cash.

The inclusion of a free shot at a $1 million is also a nice perk, especially considering that players appear to be guaranteed at least $5 in additional bonus funds.

That brings the total monetary value of this bonus up to $35, and in our opinion, the true value up to somewhere around $20.

#2 – Borgata Casino

Clocking in at a close second is Borgata Casino. The no deposit offer from Borgata is capped at $20, with a breezy one time play through requirement.

Normally we’d expect a ton of fine print attached to such low turnover, but the only caveat is that the funds must be wagered on slots, classic slots, or progressive slots.

That, and players must meet the requirements within 14 days, but that’s par for the course.

We estimate the true value of this offer to be right around $19, which is outstanding for a $20 bonus.

#3 – Play SugarHouse

The Play SugarHouse bonus bares some similarities to the Borgata’s, but overall, is just a tad less lucrative.

Unique to the Play SugarHouse no deposit offer is that it’s a dynamic bonus.

Players who successfully register a real-money account will spin a wheel, where the minimum they’ll win is $10 and the maximum $20.

Now, that’s not to say the average monetary value is an average of these figures ($15), as the $10 amount appears to occur with a much higher frequency than other values.

That being said, the wagering requirements are very low (1x), and the bonus funds can be wagered not only on slots, but video poker games as well.

Under optimal playing conditions, video poker games offer the lowest house edges of almost any casino game, thus boosting the true value of the offer.

On balance, we’d put this true value right around $12.

#4 – Caesars Casino

Caesars Casino offers just $10 to new players, which is below par. However, the other particulars of the bonus elevate it into above average territory.

Namely, the turnover requirements are low:

  • 1x on slots
  • 2x on video poker games
  • 5x on all other games

Given this, it’s probable that players will have real-money funds in their casino wallet by the time the requirements are met.

Some may view the seven-day expiration date as a drawback. But in our opinion, even 24 hours is a reasonable amount of time to place wagers totaling $10 on slots, or $50 on blackjack.

The true value of this offer is somewhere along the lines of $9.60.

#5 (tie) – Tropicana/Virgin Casino

Rounding out the list are Tropicana Casino and Virgin Casino, both of which offer the same no deposit bonus.

The bonus amount is capped at $20, and the turnover requirement is just 1x on any casino game. Based on this information alone, one might wonder why this offer didn’t top our list.

The reason is that the bonus funds are not redeemable for cash, even after the wagering requirements are met. Instead, only winnings from the bonus are eligible for withdrawal.

In other words, players have to be up money at the time they meet the clearance requirements in order to cash out. This is what’s known as a sticky bonus.

Generally speaking, the best way to benefit from this type of bonus is to take a shot.

For example, players who wager the entire $20 on one hand of blackjack will either win $20 ($30 if they hit a natural), or lose the bonus, which has no cash value anyway.

Assuming the player wins roughly 42 percent of the time, this works out to a true value of about $9.

By contrast, Those who use the funds to grind out slots at minimum denominations stand little chance of walking away with anything. Given enough spins, the casino will always win.

Any NJ no deposit casino offers not worth the time?

NJ online casinos rarely give away free money without good reason.

In most instances, players will either have to make a qualifying deposit or play regularly on the site before their bonus wallet will be replenished.

The no deposit offer is generally the sole exception to this rule — beyond successfully registering an account, there are no strings attached.

It’s therefore in a player’s best interest to not only capitalize on the bonuses at the aforementioned sites, but all NJ online casino sites.
