Two Sites, One Studio: Betfair Casino To Join Forces With Golden Nugget For Its Live Dealer Rollout

[toc]Before long, Golden Nugget Casino won’t be the only NJ online casino to support the burgeoning Live Dealer format.

That’s because Betfair Casino has announced its intentions to enter the mix, soon becoming the second NJ-based site to offer live blackjack, roulette, and baccarat games.

Betfair will act as more of an ally than a rival to Golden Nugget, as both operate under the Golden Nugget AC online gambling license, and will share a product for its Live Dealer games.

What will Betfair’s Live Dealer games look like?

Those familiar with the Live Dealer games on Golden Nugget Casino will feel right at home playing equivalent games on Betfair Casino. That’s because, rather than launch its own independent operation, Betfair has aligned with the Golden Nugget for the rollout.

The duo will share the same studio, which is housed inside the Golden Nugget’s land-based venue in Atlantic City, the same dealers, and nearly the same games. The only real difference is that Golden Nugget will retain exclusive rights to one of its three Live Dealer Blackjack tables.

As for the other two Live Dealer Blackjack tables, as well as the Live Dealer Roulette and Baccarat tables, the two sites will share liquidity across all players and stakes.

Betfair will also run its Live Dealer games at the same times as the Golden Nugget.

Golden Nugget recently extended its hours for the format to 3 p.m. – 3 a.m. seven days per week. It was the second time the NJ online casino expanded the reach of its games, which have gradually gained in popularity since launching last August.

A new way to play

Without changes to the way the game is played, Betfair Casino and Golden Nugget would likely run into overpopulation problems at its Live Dealer Blackjack tables, which can currently only support 21 players across three tables.

Luckily, the duo have already accounted for that potential issue by planning the introduction of a new side bet.

Enter the Bet Behind feature. This new nuance functions exactly how it sounds.

  • Players that are not seated at the main table will soon have the option to bet on hands that are being played by those occupying a seat.
  • The bet behind player will follow the same decisions as the main table player, which encourages side bettors to choose a player that they believe is making smart decisions.
  • In addition, players seated at the main game can also wager on other hands being played.

Collectively, this side bet transforms a game that can only be played by a limited number of folks into one where as many people who want to get in on the action, can get in on the action.

It also eliminates the frustration that could arise from players waiting patiently for a seat at the main game, and encourages them to stick around. This works in favor of both the operator and players.

Word is still out on what the minimum and maximum wagers for the Bet Behind feature will be. The minimum bet for the main blackjack game is currently $10, but for blackjack side bets and other games, it’s as low as $1.

But that’s not all

Golden Nugget and Betfair will continue to remain aggressive with regards to their Live Dealer games.

The pair is currently looking at ways to further expand the product. By this summer, expect additional game types and tables.

Live Dealer games have proven a boon for Golden Nugget Casino, where players can enjoy the same table games they play at land-based casinos in a familiar, yet more convenient, setting.

The addition of more games and tables should only facilitate further growth.

What platforms will Betfair’s Live Dealer games be available for?

At launch, Betfair will support Live Dealer games on PC, Mac, and on iOS and Android powered smartphone devices — same as Golden Nugget.

Down the road, we may see the games introduced for tablets.
