DraftKings’ Customers Hammer The Lakers-Nuggets Over To 0 Points

Hey, DraftKings Sportsbook customers, it’s Hammer Time.

And yes, you can touch this, because it’s free money.

Wondering how, aren’t you?

Check out the Hammer The Over promo tied into Sunday night’s NBA game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets. Basically, thanks to some clever marketing combined with an odds boost, bettors will be able to cash their tickets before a single point is even scored.

How the Hammer The Over promo works

For every 1,000 bettors, the over-under on the game drops by one point. The promotion came out Monday, with the game’s over-under in the neighborhood of 200 points. It was 18 and falling fast on Tuesday.

By fast, we mean all the way down to 0 points before it was even time for a Wednesday morning cup of coffee.

This is the betting equivalent of a slam dunk.

How much of a mortal lock is it? When the teams played last on Feb. 4, they totaled 207 points.

Gee, wonder if you have a chance?

Even better, this offer is available to new and existing users.

Here’s how you get in:

  • Visit the DraftKings Sportsbook promo page.
  • Place a bet on the special Lakers vs Nuggets Hammer The Over special market (before 10 p.m. on Feb. 14).
  • You must select the boost in your betslip before placing the bet.
  • Max bet is $25.

Like nearly all promos, this excludes live bets, parlays, cash bets, free bets, voided bets and odds boosts.

DraftKings and the art of the promo

Hammer The Over? Obliterate the over is more like it.

DraftKings could get this down to zero, restart the promotion and get it down to zero again before the game even starts.

The promotion is so popular that the real over-under concerns when the hammered number becomes zero. LeBron James won’t even have to take a shot.

It’s a good feeling.

For most bettors, the $25 will be buried faster than a 3-pointer.

But what resonates is the message. Favored customers gain nice deals every once in a while. There’s a certain magic about being singled out, and about continuing a tradition of incentives.

Many sports bettors obtain substantial no-brainer entry points. DraftKings unfurls another one Saturday at UFC 258, in which new users gain $100 in free bets (four $25 wagers) if their main event fighter, Kamaru Usman or Gilbert Burns, lands a single punch.

What happens after the new-user promo? Something like this.

The promos also serve as a reminder to reset one’s betting compass.

“Right after the Super Bowl, people are going to start jumping into so many things,” Johnny Avello, the director of race and sportsbook operations for DraftKings, told Play NJ. “There is a lot of excitement coming around the corner. Part of that excitement is the NBA. People love to bet it.”

Especially this way.
