DraftKings Sportsbook is making Tuesday’s presidential debate a little more exciting with a free-to-play pool.
Users compete for $50,000. The top 4,160 finishers will split the cash. The top prize in the presidential debate pool is $5,000.
Customers simply need to select the most correct answers prior to the debate (9 p.m. Sept. 29). This will be the first of three showdowns between President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
There were 16,000-plus entries as of noon EST today.
Breaking down the DraftKings presidential debate pool
Following politics is not a prerequisite for participating in this pool.
Actually, all 10 questions are multiple choice, and they range from how Trump and Biden will greet each other to who will say the word China first.
For those who are a little hesitant about participating in this free-to-play presidential debate pool, here are three of the questions:
Will Joe Biden mention his Corvette?
Who will be mentioned first by either candidate?
- Hillary Clinton
- Barack Obama
- Neither is mentioned
When the candidates first walk on the stage, how will they greet each other?
- Fist bump
- Elbow bump
- No touching
The pool is available via the DraftKings daily fantasy sports and sportsbook apps nationwide. And with it being free to play, new customers don’t have to worry about depositing funds.
Basically, there is nothing to lose.
DraftKings finding ways to offer election betting
However, the page was quickly taken down.
This is the closest any operator has come to offering odds on the current presidential race. Legal wagers are permitted in European markets.
With DraftKings, customers are not putting up any money, so the laws do not apply.
The presidential debate pool is the latest politically centric contest users have the option of entering at DraftKings.
Another centered around November’s presidential election is available as well. As of noon today, there are 222,505 entries for that free contest. It comes with a $100,000 prize pool.
DraftKings’ free-to-play pools are a hit
DraftKings Sportsbook’s free-to-play pools continue to be extremely popular. The Boston-based operator started rolling out more of them back in March after the coronavirus pandemic shut down the pro sports world. Not only are some offered by DraftKings, but also, users can set up their own pools.
According to DraftKings, since launching the FTP pools on its platforms, there has been more than $2 million paid out across some 260-plus contests.
Customer engagement continues to be extremely strong, too, with more than 3.7 million entries.

Politics, however, is a topic that expands beyond diehard and casual sports fans. Come Election Day, people will decide whether Trump or Biden will be the next president of the United States.
For now, DraftKings customers have 10 questions to debate.
