Eagles To Score A Touchdown In Week 1? Sounds Like A DraftKings No-Brainer

Posted By Bill Gelman on August 2, 2019

Will Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles score a touchdown against the Washington Redskins in Week 1?

Well, based on the current odds from DraftKings Sportsbook (Eagles -9), the chances of it happening are looking very strong.

So strong, that it almost seems like a “no-brainer” that it will happen. Which is why the DraftKings No Brainer Odds Boost is not something to pass up.

And it involves three of the most popular teams in New Jersey, each of which start the NFL season on Sept. 8.

Here are the specific details:

We’re talking about a line that was at -10,000 before the odds boost, which ends Sept. 8. The maximum bet is $10, but it’s almost a no-risk bet. Here’s why:

A closer look at NFL Week 1 odds: Eagles, Jets, Giants

The over/under line for the Eagles-Redskins game on Sept. 8 is currently at 46.5 at DraftKings.

Even if you take the under, it’s hard to imagine Wentz not finding Zach ErtzDeSean Jackson or Alshon Jeffery not catching a touchdown in 60 minutes. If not, they would likely set the record for most field goals made in a game.

Keep in mind that the Eagles are currently listed at +1300 to win the Super Bowl. That puts them fifth behind the Patriots, Chiefs, Rams, and Saints. And they are also -112 to end the season as the NFC East winner.

Put all of that into the mix and the likelihood of the Eagles scoring a touchdown on Sept. 8 seems, well, a no-brainer.

How ’bout those NY Giants?

The story with the Giants isn’t as clear cut.

They are opening the season in Dallas against longtime rivals, the Cowboys. As of now, the G-Men are listed as a 7.5-point underdog. Plus, the team still has plenty of question marks on both sides of the ball.

How do they plan on replacing the receiving yards and touchdowns from Odell Beckham Jr., who is now playing in Cleveland? Can Eli Manning still play or is it time for him to step aside and let rookie first-round pick Daniel Jones get the snaps?

To be fair, they still have the extremely dangerous Saquon Barkley at running back. He scored 15 touchdowns in his first season, 11 of which came on the ground.

Sam Darnold and the Jets

Then there are the Jets, who are a 3-point favorite against the Buffalo Bills at home.

Quarterback Sam Darnold enters the season with a year of NFL experience under his belt. Plus, he has a new weapon in Le’Veon Bell, who returns to the NFL after sitting out last season in a contract dispute. He was previously the star running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Yes, all three of these teams have the talent to score a touchdown in the opening week. And with the words “Jets, Giants OR Eagles” to score a touchdown, bettors have the odds in their favor.

DraftKings Sportsbook, one year later

It’s promotions like these that helped DraftKings Sportsbook establish itself as one of New Jersey’s top sportsbooks.

Aug. 1 marked the one-year birthday of when the app had its soft launch in NJ. DraftKings, of course, made history in the process by becoming the first mobile operator to take a sports bet outside of Nevada.

Being that NFL training camps just opened last week, this odds boost is likely the first of many more no-brainers to come.
