When it comes to New Jersey online gambling, Golden Nugget is king. At the same time, the operator has a reputation for keeping up with the times.
The latest example took place on Monday when Golden Nugget and Scientific Games announced an agreement to expand their iGaming partnership.
The details of the deal were announced via a press release:
“Building on a long-term partnership, Scientific Games will provide its solutions to Golden Nugget across multiple states through 2024 and potentially beyond.”
This agreement especially applies to the NJ sports betting and iGaming markets.
As part of the deal, Scientific Games will provide Golden Nugget with its “OpenGaming” system to enhance its iGaming presence.
Additionally, Golden Nugget will utilize the full “OpenSports” product suite and world-class managed sports betting services from Don Best Sports.
The deployment process will launch in the NJ mobile sports betting market, with a retail rollout being an option. Additional states could follow.
Thomas Winter, senior vice president and general manager for online gaming at Golden Nugget, commented on the deal:
“We have a long history with Scientific Games, and their technology is a cornerstone of our sports betting and iGaming strategy.
“We’re thrilled to continue working with them to bring a consistent and best-in-class experience to our players across multiple products nationwide.”
Scientific Games is not a new name
The Garden State is far from new turf for Scientific Games. The Las Vegas-based company currently powers the Caesars Sportsbook app.
Also, it has a deal with Wynn Resorts, but nothing has been announced in regards to an NJ launch.
Golden Nugget, on the other hand, is an established brand, and one that continues to dominate the NJ online casino market. It was the first American operator to launch live dealer games.
And it is still growing at a rapid rate. January’s online gaming win of $21.2 million is an all-time monthly record.
This deal is expected to take Golden Nugget’s iGaming experience to the next level.
Jordan Levin, group chief executive of digital for Scientific Games, explains what customers can expect.
“Following Golden Nugget’s transition to our solutions, we look forward to launching sports on top of our long-standing player account and iGaming relationship,” said Levin.
“Golden Nugget has a wide player base across the US, having pioneered the iGaming space in New Jersey from its earliest days, and we’re excited to power their sports betting and iGaming presence, providing a seamless and reliable end-to-end betting experience.”
Golden Nugget + NJ sports betting
This deal is the latest example of Golden Nugget’s commitment to NJ sports betting.
FanDuel Sportsbook continues to dominate the market.
However, prior to the current NBA season, the Golden brand was not on a level playing field with the rest of the competition. The conflict of Tilman Fertitta owning both the Golden Nugget and the Houston Rockets meant the operator could not offer NBA betting during the 2018-19 season.
NJ Gov. Phil Murphy signed a new law in September, eliminating the previous restrictions. However, any wagers related to the Rockets remain off-limits.
It would seem like a no-brainer that Golden Nugget’s sports wagering revenue climbs significantly over the next several months. Customers are aware of the change at this point thanks to some heavy promoting on the Golden Nugget Atlantic City website:
“New Jersey’s #1 Online Casino now accepts NBA bets!”
But it will take the remainder of the NBA season to judge the success truly.
The mobile sportsbook portion of the app recently passed the one-year mark. As a result, the Golden Nugget saw a whopping 1907.9% year-over-year increase in sports betting revenue. The $547,909 ($431,643 of which came via mobile) is an all-time high for the license holder.
Judging by Golden Nugget’s track record, call this the foundation for strong results yet to come.
