The Boardwalk is a hubbub of activity these days ahead of one of its biggest weekends it has seen in years.
On June 28, Atlantic City will welcome back to life two shuttered casinos. The former Revel Casino and Trump Taj Mahal each have a new owner, a new name, and a new plan to help Atlantic City once again become a thriving East Coast gaming mecca.
Earlier this year, AC Ocean Walk bought Revel Casino and quickly renamed the property Ocean Resort Casino. It has invested nearly $200 million into the property and established partnerships with Hyatt and Topgolf.
It is counting on its unparalleled commitment to customer service to help set the property apart from the pack.
Not long before that, Hard Rock International bought the Trump Taj Mahal. Since then, the global brand known for its connection to the entertainment world has invested $500 million in renovations to the property.
It is busy putting its “rock chic” touches to the building and is committed to bringing more than 300 live entertainment acts to the Boardwalk over the next year.
Sign of the times: Hard Rock puts its mark on AC
Do you believe in signs? Well, Atlantic City is getting a big one this week.
Hard Rock Atlantic City recently welcomed its new signage for the hotel and casino. Workers will be busy putting all the letters in place throughout the week. Already, the new signs have not gone unnoticed:

Of course, the sign represents more than a new business opening in town.
It represents the rebounding of a city that has struggled financially for years. It means jobs for local residents and the return of a bustling and vibrant tourist trade.
Hard Rock Atlantic City hopes to be a smashing success
Guests of Hard Rock Atlantic City on June 28 will have an opportunity to witness one of the most unique ribbon-cutting ceremonies in the world.
Hard Rock will celebrate its opening with its signature Guitar Smash. Officials from the property and probably some local dignitaries will take hold of a guitar and smash it to pieces.
It’s a perfect way for a company known for its relationship to the music industry to commemorate a memorable day.
With the picturesque Boardwalk as a backdrop, there is no better way for Hard Rock to signal they are open for business.
The grandest of grand opening weekends
Ocean Resort Casino also scheduled its grand opening festivities on June 28. Making that weekend one visitors to Atlantic City won’t want to miss.
It is almost a certainty that both casinos will be trying to lure guests into their respective properties with great promotions and discounts.
For visitors looking for a place to stay, both Hard Rock and Ocean Resort are offering a tier-match promotion with a player’s existing loyalty card from any Atlantic City casino.
The entertainment lineup alone will be worth the trip with Carrie Underwood and Pitbull taking to the stage.
There will be several new dining options, local activities such as The Wheel, and of course the Boardwalk. In other words, there will be plenty of options to stave off boredom and make the grand opening weekend one to remember.
What is more fun than rooting on your favorite team by putting a little skin in the game? Nothing, that’s what.
Whether you will be there for the opening weekend or not, one thing is for sure: Atlantic City is getting a facelift. When all is said and done, it will look about 10 years younger and have some extra pep in its step.
