When the former Trump Taj Mahal closed in 2016, so did two of its most popular attractions, Robert’s Steakhouse and Scores.
The Taj Mahal has found new life thanks to Hard Rock International. It will open as Hard Rock Atlantic City in just a couple weeks. And as a result, the popular dining option and adult entertainment venue are back as well.
It wasn’t a foregone conclusion that Scores would reopen on June 28 alongside the property. It had to claim a victory in court to ensure its new home.
Hard Rock Atlantic City takes Scores to court
Hard Rock AC sought to keep Scores from opening under a lease agreement with the former Trump Taj Mahal. It took the adult entertainment company to court claiming it affects Hard Rock’s “ability to open on schedule and operate without impediment or potential denigration of its brand.”
By contrast, Scores Atlantic City asserted it had the right to open because its lease is “in full force and effect.”
Hard Rock maintained the lease expired in June 2016 after the strip club missed a deadline to obtain a five-year extension. Hard Rock also claimed through the lawsuit that Scores was in breach of its original lease by failing to make timely payments.
The suit, filed in federal court, was eventually dismissed in February. Apparently, the two companies came to some agreement clearing the way for Scores’ dancers to take the stage during the celebratory grand opening weekend.
About Scores Atlantic City
According to its website, “Scores Atlantic City is a revolutionary social and sensory adult entertainment complex for everyone.”
The 36,000-square-foot venue will include seven unique experiences including The Libertine Room and the Electric Fantasy Club.
Scores will open its doors at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and remain open “until the party ends.” The strip club touts “the most beautiful and exotic entertainers in all of Atlantic City.”
Bob Gans, managing partner of Scores Atlantic City said in a press release:
“We are truly excited to relaunch the revolutionary Scores experience, preserving Atlantic City’s status as a 24-hour city with world-class nightlife.”
Hard Rock readies for its grand opening
Hard Rock Atlantic City rolls out the welcome mat in just two weeks. Listen for guitars smashing, slots spinning, and guests gasping at the property’s transformation.
Even Gans is gushing over the successful renovation. He said as much to the Courier Post Online:
“When you see the new Hard Rock, you’re not going to believe it. Nothing in there looks like it looked when we closed the facility. They’ve really done a wonderful job (remodeling). The type of facility Hard Rock has (created) is just world class.”
Hard Rock has an A-list celebrity lineup ready to entertain visitors during the big party, including Carrie Underwood and Pitbull. Now, it can add some adult-only entertainment to the list.
It is not the only adult-themed entertainment returning from the past either. Recently, Ocean Resort Casino announced Ivan Kane’s Royal Jelly Burlesque, once a popular attraction at the former Revel Casino, will be resurrected during the grand opening weekend.
It certainly is an exciting time to be in Atlantic City. It is a time when old failures take on the promise of a new life, and relics live on to entertain again.
