March Madness is upon us. How’s your bracket looking right now?

The best NJ online sports betting sites are ready and waiting to take all your action during the NCAA Tournament over the next three weeks.

But first, we at PlayNJ have decided to compare some of the mobile sportsbook apps so you can pick the best March Madness betting option.

We compared the various March Madness promotions, bonuses and betting odds on the apps. Then, we looked at the software, how easy the apps are to use and the available deposit options in an effort to separate the contenders from the pretenders in the NJ sportsbook app market.

Here’s a look at how Caesars Sportsbook and SugarHouse Sportsbook stack up.

Caesars Sportsbook

March Madness promos on Caesars

Caesars Casino & Sports launched its NCAA brackets contest called the March Pick ‘Em Challenge.

It’s a free-to-play bracket challenge offers $50,000 in prizes for the top 800 finishers. However, you must be in New Jersey to play. The grand prize winner gets a free $250 sports bet every week for a year. Not too shabby.

Single game March Madness wagering is also available at Caesars Casino & Sports for anyone in NJ, resident or not.

March Madness odds on Caesars

March Madness moneylines at Caesars are far from the best in the business. However, the -110 price on most point spread bets is competitive.

Taking a look at the South Region and defending NCAA champion (No. 6) Villanova taking on (No. 11) Saint Mary’s in the first round, the moneyline on Saint Mary’s was at +220 and Villanova -280.

In a head-to-head matchup with SugarHouse Sportsbook, Caesars comes up short, as SugarHouse had Saint Mary’s at the same +220, but Villanova at a more attractive -265.

Although be advised it varies by game and team.

Caesars’ bonus offers

Use our exclusive link and the bonus code BETFREE10, and you’ll get $10 in free bets at Caesars with no deposit required.

Plus, you can get up to $300 in free bets on your first deposit.

Caesars’ software

Caesars failed in its first efforts to make the sportsbook available through an update to its Caesars Online Casino app.

However, the sportsbook product, which was added to anyone that re-installed the app after launch, is powered by a solid platform. The one thing missing from the Caesars Sportsbook software is the availability of international sports.

Caesars’ ease of use

Caesars Sportsbook is easy enough to navigate around, and its promotions and live events are front and center. Putting together a bet slip is also a straightforward process.

Score (out of 10): 7

Caesars’ deposit options

Caesars pretty much leads the league in deposit options.

The most common methods of deposit are available including ACH/e-check, PayPal, Neteller, online banking and PayNearMe. Plus, players can purchase a Caesars Prepaid Card or deposit cash at cage via the Caesars Casino in Atlantic City.

It doesn’t get much better than this.

SugarHouse Sportsbook

March Madness promos on SugarHouse

SugarHouse Sportsbook had an exclusive NCAA Tournament contest called March Mania.

It’s not your typical free March Madness bracket contest because it comes with a promotional twist.

Players filled out and entered a free bracket. Then, they earn SugarHouse’s bonus store points for each correct pick. Additionally, wagers of $25 or more on any of a particular player’s bracket picks earn them additional points.

When the NCAA Tournament wraps up, the top 100-point earners will earn prizes, including a $1,000 first prize.

March Madness odds on SugarHouse

The March Madness lines at SugarHouse Sportsbook are all over the map.

This highlights the need to shop around when making single-game bets on NCAA Tournament games. The price on most point spread bets is competitive, but they fluctuate.

And, while SugarHouse Sportsbook often offers a better price on moneylines than Caesars, several instances can be found where it does not.

SugarHouse Sportsbook does offer alternative lines called the Double Chance, which appears to be a type of overtime protection. Overall, there’s more variety in the basic betting options on SugarHouse Sportsbook than most, even if it doesn’t always offer the best price.

SugarHouse’s bonus offers

New players at SugarHouse Sportsbook, who sign up using the promo code PLAY250, will receive a 100 percent deposit match of up to $250. The bonus money can be used at the casino, too.

Score (out of 10): 8

SugarHouse’s software

The SugarHouse Sportsbook software platform features a wide variety of betting options, including many innovations. The mobile and desktop options are both the same.

Plus, the connection between the sportsbook and casino is seamless.

SugarHouse’s ease of use

SugarHouse Sportsbook is relatively easy to use. However, some users might find the promo banner and newsfeed distracting. Plus, there seems to be a variety of features on the sports tabs that perform unidentifiable tasks.

Overall, users should have no problems making a bet, but SugarHouse Sportsbook isn’t the easiest NJ sportsbook to navigate around.

Score (out of 10): 6

SugarHouse’s deposit options

SugarHouse offers a wide variety of deposit options. Players should have zero issues funding an account with options like online bill pay, credit and debit cards, Neteller, PayPal, e-check, prepaid card and cash all available. SugarHouse gets the job done on deposits.

The tale of the tape

This one plays out like most No. 8 versus No. 9 seed matchups in the NCAA Tournament.

Both SugarHouse and Caesars are strong contenders for the NJ sportsbook crown. SugarHouse appears to have the edge when it comes to March Madness single-game betting options, but Caesars’ $50,000 bracket challenge is simply more valuable.

Both software platforms have their ups and downs. But in the end, Caesars is simply doing more to attract March Madness action through the March Pick ‘Em Challenge and new player bonus. Therefore, it edges out SugarHouse by a nose.
