New Jersey Gambling News: Records, Records And More Records

Posted By Kim Yuhl on December 19, 2019

With just a few days before the start of Hanukkah and one week before Christmas, just how festive the holiday season will be for Eagles’ fans depends on this weekend’s game.

The biggest New Jersey sports betting headline in NFL Week 16 is the highly anticipated meeting between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. It’s a must-win game for the Eagles if they want to play in the postseason.

All of this sports betting excitement translated into some big online gambling revenue numbers for both online sports betting apps and online casinos in NJ. Let’s take a closer look at the recent New Jersey online gambling news.

Online casino revenue

Last week, the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) released the November online casino gambling revenue.

For fear of sounding like a broken record, online casino gambling revenue, well, broke another record.

All online casinos in New Jersey earned over $47 million, and online poker added almost $1.5 million to the bottom line. Here are the numbers:

Revenue / ∆ Month Over Month / ∆ Year Over Year:

  • Total: $49.1 million / +12.3% / +82.37%
  • Online casinos: $47.6 million / +13.0% / +87.7%
  • Online poker: $1.5 million / -5.98% / -4.43%

Online casinos remained in the same pecking order as the previous month. Taking the podium are:

And as expected, the bottom three are:

Sports betting revenue

Along with online casino revenue, the DGE also released November’s sports betting revenue. And just like online gambling, online sports betting revenue reached its own milestones during the month.

New Jersey sports betting customers placed more than a half-billion ($562.6 million) worth of bets. And, what do you know? That is also a new record.

Of course, most of those bets, $486.7 million worth, came via NJ sports betting apps.

New Jersey sportsbooks earned $32.9 million in November, which is a 54.8% year-over-year increase.

FanDuel Sportsbook was the big winner for the month — again. It earned $14.8 million for the month, good for a 111% increase when compared to the same period last year.

NFL Week 16: Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Come Sunday afternoon, all eyes will be on the Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL matchup.

The Eagles versus Cowboys NFC East rivalry game has big ramifications for Philadelphia. If the Eagles win, they keep their playoff hopes alive. If they lose, well, let’s not talk about that.

As we head into the last few weeks of NFL regular-season betting, you can bet there will be plenty of action on this week’s game.
