One of the premier series for PokerStars NJ poker — the New Jersey Spring Championship of Online Poker, is set to offer players guaranteed prize pools of $1.3 million next month.
NJSCOOP, which will run April 14-30, will consist of 40 events, each with a guaranteed pot of money.
Most events will be a variant of Texas hold’em. However, events that feature Omaha, Stud and mixed rotations will also happen.
The tournaments are classified according to their buy-ins. Events with buy-ins of $100 or more are classified as “High” events; the rest are on the “Low” rung.
However, even the “Low” tournaments will carry guarantees of $2,500 or more. Limited bankroll players could significantly boost their reserves with a deep run in any NJSCOOP event.
The NJSCOOP main events are the marquee tournaments
Both buy-in levels have their own main events. The High event is a $500 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament with a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.
For Low players, there is a $50 event with a $40,000 guarantee. However, the winners of both events will receive a bonus prize that will make the win so much sweeter.
Each main event winner will receive a Platinum Pass. The Pokerstars Platinum Pass is an all-expenses-paid ticket to the Pokerstars Player’s NL Hold’em Championship.
Each pass carries a $25,000 entry fee to the event itself, six nights of accommodations at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, and money for expenses. As such, the winners of the NJSCOOP will add an extra $30,000 to their first-place prize. The Pokerstars Player’s NL Hold’em Championship will run in January 2019.
There are satellites to everything
If you don’t want to plunk down the full price for one of the main events, there are several options to qualify:
- Special Spin & Go tournaments: For $4, you could wind up playing for six figures and a great trip to the Bahamas.
- The Main Event Freeroll Challenge: Play your cards right in a weekly freeroll to punch your ticket to one of the big events.
- $8,000 in satellite tickets: Play in specified NJSCOOP tournaments and get a second chance ticket to an All-In Shootout. The All-In Shootout winner will receive a multitude of tickets to main event satellites – either 40 $10 Low tickets, or 12 $100 High tickets.
Besides these options, each NJSCOOP event will have its own dedicated satellites. Players could win a seat to one of these events for as little as $0.50.
There’s something for everyone in this upcoming series. For residents of the Garden State, there are few better options online any time during the year.
