New York Jets betting odds have not been favorable to this tortured fan in 2021.
OK, it’s not really the Jets betting odds that have been cruel. It’s Gang Green and my awful bets.
All I want for Christmas is a football team that doesn’t get embarrassed week-in and week-out. Instead, Santa gave me this giant lump of coal known as the New York Jets.
The. Same. Old. Jets.
New York (3-9) hosts the New Orleans Saints (5-7) on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.
The Jets are 5.5-point underdogs. The over/under is 42.5 points at most New Jersey online sportsbooks.
By the grace of a higher power, yours truly will miss the game because of my son’s birthday party. Spending three-and-a-half hours with 30 screaming 7-year-olds at a trampoline park is heavenly compared to watching the Jets.
Here are my five $5 Jets bets for Week 14.
Saints will cover Jets betting odds
This lowly gambling writer has run out of ways to stay positive about the Jets. I don’t want to hear about a rookie quarterback, a first-year head coach, or injuries to key players.
This Jets team has no heart. And, since they’re basically playing for draft position at this point, there’s no reason to expect anything from this team.
I’m done for 2021.
New Orleans, meanwhile, is still mathematically in the fight for an NFC Wild Card. Even though the Saints have lost every game since their starting quarterback went down five weeks ago.
Sean Payton is a better coach than Robert Saleh. The Saints are a better team than the Jets.
Laying the points with DraftKings Sportsbook at -110 for a payout of $9.54.
Smart players stay away from most Jets betting odds
When it comes to Jets betting odds, the smart money is almost against NY.
The Jets are 3-9 against the spread this year. New Orleans is 5-7 ATS in 2021.
As far as o/u records, the Jets are 7-5 and the Saints are 6-6.
There is a good chance I’m oversimplifying this, but those numbers tell me Saints will cover and the over will hit.
I’m putting my money on that at FanDuel Sportsbook. Saints -5.5 and over 43.5 points is +270 for a payout of $13.50.
Early, but not often or late
Some of the best Jets betting odds this year have been against them scoring early.
It wasn’t until Week 8 that the NYJ finally scored a touchdown in the first quarter of a game. They’ve now done it in three of the last five games.
Unfortunately, scoring early has not led to wins. It’s only prolonged the suffering.
Conversely, the Saints are a second-half team.
But, the Jets also have trouble keeping other teams from scoring.
So, I’m thinking this game could be tied at halftime before NO pulls away.
Head over to Caesars Sportsbook where the Double Result odds of TIE/NO is +1400. That’s a nice $75 payout.

Would you be shocked if I told you the Jets have the NFL’s worst defensive?
Just kidding. You already knew.
Of course, the Jets are the worst. It’s part of their DNA.
But, this season is historically awful. Two teams put up 45 points and their archrival hung 54 on the Jets just for fun.
It’s more than just the defense is bad. It’s how it’s been bad.
Screen passes and run-pass-option plays are apparently foreign concepts in Florham Park. Every week, without fail, the Jets get roasted by the same two plays.
And guess what the Saints do really well with Swiss Army-knife Taysom Hill playing quarterback?
Yeah.
Hill rushing for more than 54.5 yards is basically free money. Not a huge fan of the -115 odds but I can’t blame BetMGM Sportsbook. This is a gift bet with a $9.35 payout.
Kamara running wild in the swamps of Jersey
Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been banged up this season. Because of that, his season-long production is down.
But when Kamara is on the field, even at 85%, he’s still one of the best backs in the league.
He can run with power or finesse or speed.
Care to guess what the Jets are bad at? I mean, besides football.
The Jets are terrible at stopping the run. They give up more than 133 rushing yards per game, 29th in the league.
The Saints are not an offensive juggernaut like they’ve been in years past. But the Saints can score, especially against the NYJ.
Expect Kamara to have a big game on Sunday.
I went to FoxBet NJ to put a bet on Kamara rushing for 100 or more yards and scoring a touchdown. The odds are +300 for a payout of $20.
