As it prepares to open this summer, Ocean Resort Casino (the former Revel Casino) has announced a partnership with one of the world’s best-known hotel chains.

Hyatt + Ocean Resort

According to a joint news release, Ocean Resort will be part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt.

“Hyatt has an incredible 60-plus-year legacy in the industry, and its loyal global customer base will have access to an authentic way to experience all that makes Atlantic City attractive and popular,” Bruce Deifik, chairman of AC Ocean Walk, said in a joint statement with Hyatt. ACOW owns the new resort. “We are thrilled and proud to be joining The Unbound Collection by Hyatt portfolio as we prepare for the resort’s opening this summer.”

“We are excited to be affiliating Ocean Resort Casino with The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand, and to be introducing Hyatt to Atlantic City, one of the nation’s most visited resort and casino destinations,” David Tarr, senior vice president of development for Hyatt, said in the statement.

The Unbound Collection

The Unbound Collection was launched in 2016 and includes six upscale/luxury hotels in the US and several others around the globe.

According to the news release, “each property in the collection maintains a distinct character and the freedom to be unique, while still providing guests with the opportunity to earn World of Hyatt points and redeem for free night awards and access to many other benefits at Hyatt locations worldwide.”

The current list of Unbound Collection hotels:

  • Royal Palms Resort And Spa – Arizona
  • The Confidante Miami Beach – Florida
  • The Eliza Jane – Louisiana
  • The Bellevue Hotel – Pennsylvania
  • Holston House Nashville – Tennessee
  • The Driskill – Texas
  • Hotel Martinez – France
  • Hôtel Du Louvre – France
  • Carmelo Resort & Spa – Uruguay
  • Spirit Ridge – British Columbia, Canada

A new Unbound Collection hotel is slated to open in 2019 in Hollywood, CA.

What does Hyatt bring to the table?

Ocean Walk LLC, the parent company of Ocean Resort Casino, will own and operate the hotel, with Hyatt providing behind the scenes experience, expertise, as well as some infrastructure.

That includes Exhale, Hyatt’s recently acquired spa and fitness brand, as well as the use of Hyatt guest reservation system.

From a competition standpoint, as part of the Hyatt family, Ocean Resort will be listed on the Hyatt website in the Unbound Collection, giving it an international database of potential customers who can earn and redeem Hyatt rewards during their stay.

When will Ocean Resort Casino open?

Ocean Resort Casino may be aiming for a summer opening, but precisely when is unclear.

The company is actively hiring, but TheOceanAC.com website is little more than a “coming soon” advertisement. With Atlantic City’s busy season fast approaching, visitors planning vacations cannot make reservations at Ocean Resort.

Compare this to the other property set to open this summer, Hard Rock Atlantic City.

Hard Rock AC’s website is a finished product. It invites visitors to register for a rewards card, and even though it’s not accepting reservations, it has a “book now” button (that displays a coming soon message when clicked) that at least signifies the resort is opening very soon.

If Ocean Resort is going to compete with the other Atlantic City casino properties, it needs to convey that through its website, and both properties will need to start accepting reservations fairly soon.
