PlaySugarHouse Preps For Football With NFL Pick’Em Contest And $100K In Prizes

As the calendar gets closer to the start of the 2020 NFL season, fans are looking for any way to get their football fix.

For fans in New Jersey, PlaySugarHouse Sportsbook is offering a $100,000 pick’em contest for the upcoming season, with weekly prizes given out to the top winners.

That’s $100,000 in cash prizes up for grabs during NFL betting season.

All it requires of you is a $150 buy-in and weekly picks starting in September.

How the PlaySugarHouse pick’em contest works

The nuts and bolts of the PlaySugarHouse NFL Pick’Em Challenge go like this:

Players need to log into their SugarHouse sportsbook account and can buy into the contest for $150 from now until Sept. 13.

Each player has 25 entries and can start making picks on Sept. 8. That’s when the 17-week regular season starts. Picks can be made from 5 p.m. EST Tuesday through 12:59 p.m. EST Sunday each week.

Contestants will only be picking the winners of each game, not picking against the spread. Only the Sunday and Monday games that start at 1 p.m. EST or later will be eligible for selection. Games on Thursdays and Saturdays, and select Sunday games, are excluded.

If a game ends in a tie, all contestants will earn a “correct pick” for that game. The same rule applies in the event that a game is postponed and won’t be played before the Monday Night Football game. Prize winners will be announced Jan. 5, 2021.

What if there’s a shortened NFL season due to COVID-19?

Other than canceling preseason games, the NFL has not changed much for its regular season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There may not be fans in the stands for opening kickoff but the show is, as of this writing, still going on.

The season officially kicks off on Sept. 10 when the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs face the Houston Texans.

But things can change quickly, as has been noted by other pro sports that had to cancel or postpone games and tournaments in 2020. Postponed NFL games or a shortened NFL season are always possibilities.

PlaySugarHouse Sportsbook has taken that into consideration for its NFL pick’em contest. If the season lasts for eight weeks or less, all entries will be refunded. But if the season goes past nine weeks before being stopped, all final prizes will be determined based on points earned.

Prizes will be given out both weekly and at the end of the season. A $1,000 cash prize will be given out each week to the player with the most correct picks.

To break any ties for the weekly winner, there will be a tiebreaker question included with the weekly picks. Players will have to guess the total number of points scored in the last game scheduled that week. In case a secondary tiebreaker is needed, the weekly prize will be awarded to the contestant who entered their picks first during that week.

The top 100 contestants with the most correct picks at season’s end will receive cash prizes based on how well they did.

If two or more contestants are tied for a season-ending prize, the total prizes for those finishers will be split. For example, if two players tie for fifth and sixth place, and fifth place is $3,000 and sixth place is $1,000, each player will be awarded $2,000.

PlaySugarHouse, however, guarantees a minimum total payout of $100,000. More buy-ins could raise that amount, meaning the prize pool would grow as well.

And take heart if your picks end up being duds. A $500 cash prize will be paid to the player with the most losing picks at the end of the contest.

Here’s how the NFL pick’em contest prizes line up at PlaySugarHouse. Now, are you ready for some football?
