PokerStars Making New Jersey The Place To Play Poker In October

Written By Steve Ruddock on September 13, 2017

[toc]With the return of the PokerStars New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP) series, October will be prime online poker tournament season in New Jersey.

The NJCOOP schedule hasn’t been finalized yet. However, the site did announce the total guarantee and dates for the series. The series looks like a must-play for East Coast online poker players.

The NJCOOP series takes place over the course of 17 days. It begins on Sept. 30 and ends on Oct. 16. This time around, the NJCOOP series boasts $1.2 million in total guarantees. This is a slight decline from last year’s $1.3 million during the inaugural NJCOOP.

Live poker is also on the menu

If you’re planning on travelling to New Jersey for the NJCOOP, you’ll find some live poker action too. Right smack dab in the middle of the NJCOOP online series PokerStars and Resorts Casino will host the Sunday Special Live. Running from Oct. 6-8, this is a two-event live tournament series that is part of PokerStars’ MEGASTACK live events.

Among the Team PokerStars Pros that will be in attendance are chess champion Jen Shahade and 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker, who has become a mainstay at PokerStars’ New Jersey events.

“This is an everyman event suitable for everyone’s pocket,” Moneymaker said of the MEGASTACK event. “As well as the excellent organization that goes hand in hand with a PokerStars event, the promise of a decent tournament structure and a $125,000 guarantee makes this a must-play event.”

The Sunday Special Live

The Sunday Special Live will mark the first MEGASTACK event in the US. It features a $220 Main Event with a $100,000 guarantee. Additionally, there is a second $120 “Cheap and Deep” event with a $25,000 guarantee.

  • $220 Sunday Special Live – Oct. 6-8, 2017 – $100,000 guaranteed
  • $120 NLH Cheap and Deep (Unlimited Re-Entries) – Oct. 8, 2017 – $25,000 guaranteed

The Sunday Special Live will feature four starting flights:

  • 1A: 11 AM, Friday, Oct. 6 – PokerStars Sunday Special Live – Unlimited Re-Entry – 30-minute levels
  • 1B: 5 PM, Friday, Oct. 6 – PokerStars Sunday Special Live – Unlimited Re-Entry – 20-minute levels
  • 1C: 11 AM, Saturday, Oct. 7 – PokerStars Sunday Special Live – Unlimited Re-Entry – 30-minute levels
  • 1D: 5 PM, Saturday, Oct. 7 – PokerStars Sunday Special Live – Unlimited Re-Entry – 20-minute levels

Day 2 of the Sunday Special Live, on Sunday, Oct. 8, will feature 40-minute levels.

Qualify for the Sunday Special Live online

In a press release, PokerStars laid out the myriad ways players can qualify for the Sunday Special Live on the cheap:

“For as little as $0.50, players can come and take a seat at the Sunday Special Live event in New Jersey in October via a wide range of satellites currently running on and through Spin & Go’s that will be available next week. Special Mega Satellites will also be held throughout September and October awarding a large number of seats to the Sunday Special Live.”

“Many players have already qualified for the Sunday Special Live through $20 and $30 online satellites, but special offers, including $2.50 Spin & Go’s and daily freerolls awarding free satellite tickets, will run from September 11 to help players attend this unique event.”
