Star Power: Resorts Adds BetStars Online Sports Betting To Its NJ Network

Resorts Betstars sports betting

Atlantic City’s Resorts Casino is seizing full advantage of the opportunity to bring online sports betting to New Jersey with its second deal in as many days. Resorts is now adding the international BetStars brand to its sports betting portfolio.

Yesterday, Resorts received approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) to launch the first online sportsbook in the state through its partnership with daily fantasy sports operator DraftKings.

And now Resorts has announced that it has submitted an application to the DGE to launch a second online and mobile sports betting service in partnership with The Stars Group and its global BetStars brand.

BetStars enters the US market

The Stars Group is one of the world’s largest and most licensed online betting and gaming companies and already operates online poker in New Jersey with its PokerStars NJ brand.

BetStars is well known in Europe, but this will be the first launch of the brand in the US.

Matt Primeaux, SVP Strategy & Operations, USA at The Stars Group, had this to say:

“We have successfully launched the BetStars brand in many European regulated markets and we have invested heavily to create a premier global offering. Working with our longstanding partner, Resorts, we are really excited to introduce a brand-new consumer experience by bringing New Jersey fans closer to the sports and the teams that they love.”

Resorts was equally enthusiastic. Mark Giannantonio, president and CEO of Resorts Casino Hotel, added:

“We’re excited to double down on our already successful partnership with The Stars Group, which owns leading sportsbooks globally and has always been known and respected for their advanced technology, superior customer experience and cutting-edge security safeguards.”

Wide range of NJ online sports betting options

Stars explained that they would be bringing a full range of sports betting products to its New Jersey operation including:

  • in-play wagering
  • bespoke accumulators
  • live streaming
  • promotions
  • free-to-play products
  • sports content

The sports content part will revolve around “dozens of sports,” including:

  • football (pro and college)
  • basketball
  • baseball
  • horse racing
  • hockey
  • soccer
  • tennis

While sports betting was nonexistent in the US, it flourished and developed in the rest of the world. The technology available today means that the sports betting New Jersey residents remember has been transformed.

The sports betting experience is now much more engaging, and simply more enjoyable, than the old days when bets were restricted to simply who wins or loses a game.

Virtual sports betting is becoming a big thing, and players will find massively more tools and information that they can use to decide which way to bet. The industry has also created many more things that can be bet on, with a much more immediate experience available through in-play betting.

BetStars adds global experience to New Jersey

BetStars has nearly a dozen sports betting licenses in different countries and offers support in 17 distinct languages.

This background gives credence to the statement from Primeaux:

“We believe The Stars Group is uniquely qualified with the experience and insight needed to make sports betting a success in New Jersey.”

It has only been a short time since the US Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) in an appeal brought by New Jersey.

Since then, four casinos have joined the NJ sports betting market: Borgata, Ocean Resort, Bally’s and Harrah’s. Plus, Monmouth Park William Hill sportsbook and the FanDuel Sportsbook at the Meadowlands also kicked into gear.

Resorts Casino isn’t taking things slow either. It added two great companies to offer online and mobile sports betting in New Jersey.

This year’s NFL season kicks off next month, and for the first time in years, New Jersey punters will be able to bet on their favorite teams online and most importantly in a safe, legally regulated environment.
