Resorts Sportsbook To Kick Off Football Betting With Free NFL Pick’Em Contest In NJ

Posted on August 26, 2019

Resorts Sportsbook is preparing for its first full NFL betting season in a big way.

The NJ sports betting app will be launching a football handicapping Super Pick’Em contest with more than $40,000 in total prizes. Participants will compete for weekly and end-of-season cash and drawings.

And by the way, it’s free to play.

As of now, the platform linked with Atlantic City’s oldest casino is the only one to announce an NFL betting pool.

The PlaySugarHouse $500K NFL Pick’Em available in neighboring Pennsylvania is not being offered to NJ customers at least for now. Plus that one is not free.

The Resorts contest will go live prior to the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears game on Thursday, Sept. 5.

The complete contest details are currently being finalized. However, Bob Akeret, sports betting operations manager for Resorts Digital, shared some details of how it will work.

How and where to play Resorts Super Pick’Em contest

No need to worry about making weekly trips to Atlantic City. Simply log in to your Resorts Sportsbook account using a desktop, tablet or mobile device. Those who don’t have an account can download the app or sign up using the bonus code MAXBONUS to get a $250 match bet.

However, the self-betting kiosks located around the property will not have the contest.

Akeret said they have reached out to the land-based players and invited them to play in the iGaming Lounge located on the casino floor. There is staff available to walk users through the registration process and answer questions.

But the exact scoring system is being finalized, said Akeret. Besides picking against the spread, there will be “another element that will be announced when the game is live to the public.”

Bottom line, there’s $40,000 in cash prizes up for grabs.

Cash prizes, free play and sweepstakes

Once the picks are in, all participants will be competing for the $1,000 weekly prize. To spice things up a little, there will be a sweepstakes drawing in which everyone will have a shot at $500 in free play at Resorts Atlantic City.

However, the bigger cash prizes will come at the end of the season. It means playing all 17 weeks of the regular season is key. Players who get the most games right will be in the running for:

  • Grand Prize: $10,000
  • Second Prize: $3,000
  • Third Prize: $2,000

As an added bonus, Akeret said there will be an end-of-season sweepstakes drawing to give all participants an opportunity to score great prizes.

How does a VIP stay at Resorts AC (comped suite and dinner included) and $1,000 free play (slot or matched table play) sound?

With the NFL regular season now just days away, maybe it’s time to start taking a closer look at the point spreads.

Resorts is doing things the Vegas way

The Resorts-branded platform went live on Jan. 31, just in time for Super Bowl betting. So this will be the first go-around for regular-season wagering.

Akeret said the team has been planning the contest for a while. But don’t worry, being an NJ sports betting expert is not a prerequisite for participation.

“We know free to enter NFL contests work well in the retail world, and we are confident it will translate even better to online,” said Akeret.

“We have been focusing on making the process as simple and intuitive as possible, so all levels of experience will enjoy playing.”

Contests like this have been exclusive to Las Vegas bettors.

But New Jersey’s mobile sports betting market is not sitting back on its laurels. There are now 16 apps and counting. TheScore Bet and Bet365 NJ are the two newest additions in the soft launch phase.

Resorts is well aware of the competition, and Akeret said they are trying to “differentiate ourselves as much as we can.”

“From having this Super Pick’em contest, to a fantasy sports product in FastPick, a complete online casino experience with slots, tables and live dealers, to a best in market loyalty program, daily/weekly promotions and an all-star VIP team to help with our top tier patrons, we look to offer all users the best we can across as many verticals we can.”
