What would the first Super Bowl Sunday with legal NJ sports betting be without a promotion — or five?

Leave it to DraftKings Sportsbook to bring a piece of every Super Bowl Sunday block party across America to the big game fun.

That’s right, Super Bowl Squares is coming to DraftKings Sportsbook and the NJ sports betting app will be awarding more than $50,000 in cash prizes. Plus, DraftKings will add additional cash prizes for every 100,000 entries.

And the football squares contest is free to play from anywhere in the US.

You heard that right: Free. Any state.

How to play Super Bowl Squares on DraftKings

The set up for DraftKings Sportsbook Super Bowl Squares contest (which they call Big Game Squares) is pretty easy, as is the game play. First, go to the NJ sportsbook app and click on “Promotions.”

Then do the following:

1. Pick your square.

Merely select a square by clicking it from the blank 10 x 10 grid. Choose carefully because the square you choose will be your square for all four quarters.

2. Wait for the numbers.

At the start of Super Bowl LIII, DraftKings will reveal the randomly assigned numbers for each square.

3. Win a prize.

A player wins a prize if the ending numbers of each teams’ score match the numbers of your square.

DraftKings is NJ’s top sportsbook app

DraftKings knows how to make sports betting accessible. Not everyone understands how to read the lines or how to determine if a bet is a good bet.

However, everyone can pick a blank square.

With betting options like Super Bowl Squares and Sportsbook Pools, DraftKings is showing an interest in courting the casual bettor.

Innovating through games that attract all levels of sports betting enthusiasts is what is keeping them on top in the NJ market.

In fact, when DraftKings rolled out its sports betting pools, its co-founder, Matt Kalish, said:

“Millions of Americans have been playing in sports pools for years with their friends and coworkers, and now one of the most popular ways that fans can get ‘skin in the game’ is live on DraftKings Sportsbook.”

Well, millions of Americans have also been playing football squares. It seems as if DraftKings is intent on bringing home-game style sports betting to prime time.

How to play football squares

Never played football squares before? Here’s what you need to know.

You will select your square from a similar blank grid to the one pictured above.

DraftKings will then assign one team to the columns and one to the rows and assign numbers to each square.

You are a winner if your square matches the last digit for each team’s score. For instance, let’s say the score at the end of the first quarter is Los Angeles Rams 14 and New England Patriots 9. You are a winner if your square maps to four on the Rams side and nine on the Patriots side.

Easy peasy. One thing, though. Make sure you have a DraftKings Sportsbook account and get ready for some football.
