Real Deal With Inspired Brings First U.S. Virtual Sports To The Golden Nugget In NJ

Virtual Sports gaming is about to arrive in the U.S. after Inspired Gaming signed an agreement this week with the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City.

The Golden Nugget will be offering Rush Horse Racing, Rush Car Racing and Rush Football (soccer) as well as other Virtual Sports. All will be available via desktop and mobile clients.

The games are being made available through a separate deal with Spin Games which has developed the Robust Online Client (ROC) remote real money game server.

Inspired has a New Jersey online gambling license as a technology provider which enables it to be the first company to bring virtual sports betting to the U.S. market.

Virtual Sports are a winner in the rest of the world

Virtual sports games have proved to be extremely popular in other jurisdictions worldwide. Inspired claims that its games are available in over 50,000 land-based venues as well as through mobile and desktop clients.

Steve Rogers, CCO Digital Games, Inspired, commented:

This is a hugely exciting moment for Inspired, as we become the first ever supplier to deliver Virtual Sports online to the US market. Following our partnership with Spin Games, I’m delighted that we can announce that Golden Nugget will be among the first online operators in the U.S to supply their customers with Inspired’s world-class Virtual Sports products.

On behalf of the Golden Nugget,Vice President of Online Gaming Thomas Winter added:

We are thrilled to partner up with Inspired and add their innovative, world-class Virtual Sports to our content portfolio. With close to 300 games available through its web portal and mobile apps, already offers the best and largest selection of games to New Jersey online players.

The Golden Nugget won the iGaming North America Operator of the Year award in 2015 and 2016.

Virtual Sports have a long history with players

Virtual Sports may be new to the regulated U.S. market, but they date back decades.

In 1961, John Burgeson coded an early form of fantasy baseball that allowed two teams to play each other using random number generation and player statistics to determine the outcome of a game.

One advantage of Virtual Sports is that players don’t need to worry about the accidents of normal life that can take a player out of a real team line-up because of injury. They can be involved in many fantasy teams and follow teams in an idealised fantasy world, focusing only on their favourite players.

Given their success in other countries, and especially the lack of legal sports betting in most of the U.S., Virtual Sports are almost guaranteed to be a hit for the Golden Nugget.
