Posted on January 2, 2015 - Last Updated on May 16, 2015

WSOP.com will enter 2015 with a veritable monopoly on the Nevada online poker industry.

On the other hand, In New Jersey, WSOP.com continues to be engaged in a slugfest with the partnership of partypoker and the Borgata for online poker supremacy in the Garden State. Thus far, party/Borgata has emerged victorious, but that could change in 2015.

Just hours after the calendar turned to 2015, WSOP.com announced a number of new promotions, tournaments, and changes the site hopes will propel to the #1 spot in the New Jersey online poker market.

Here is a look at what WSOP.com has in store for New Jersey in 2015.

WSOP.com’s 2015 Promotions and Tournaments

Sit & Go Leader Boards

WSOP.com is also bringing back their Sit & Go leaderboards in 2015. Players who climb to the top of the leaderboards (Holdem and Omaha) can win a share of the $20,000 in prize money up for grabs in January.

US.888Poker.com and WSOP.com joining forces in NJ?

2015 also brings with it the possibility of Caesars/888 combining their two New Jersey sites. The uniting of the two sites has long been speculated, but now seems like a foregone conclusion as OnlinePokerReport.com’s Robert DellaFave proposed back in December. In addition to DellaFave’s reasons, there are several signs hinting an 888/Caesars network may be in the works in New Jersey:

  1. Caesars and 888 have already announced they will be joining forces in Nevada, which is scheduled to occur following the launch of two more 888-powered online poker sites in Nevada, TI (Treasure Island) and an 888 branded site.
  2. In an interview in August of 2014, 888 CEO Brian Mattingley seemed open to the idea, and had this to say about a potential network in New Jersey, “they would like to explore it,” but the final decision would be up to the DGE.
  3. With PokerStars entry into the market still likely, the liquidity bump the sites would gain from combining their player pools would be extremely helpful in surviving the initial PokerStars onslaught many expect to see.

Partypoker not going silently in the night

WSOP.com’s chief, and only rival in New Jersey is partypoker/Borgata, and they have also announced several upgrades and improvements of their own for 2015.

According to partypoker reps on social media and poker forums, in early 2015 the company will rollout a significant mobile upgrade, bring back the Garden State Super Series which will run concurrently with the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open, and unveil a software upgrade that will include a long awaited waiting list “fix.”

Watch this space as we plan to detail and examine the changes partypoker/Borgata has in store for 2015 in the coming days.
