New NJ Sportsbooks January 2025

Sports bettors currently have over a dozen online sportsbooks from which to choose including the new NJ sportsbooks that have already launched with more sites on the way soon. What are the new sportsbooks in NJ?

The total number of sportsbooks has fluctuated over recent years with the coming and going of different sites. In May 2024, one of a couple of sportsbook “exchanges” operating in the state shut down when Prophet Exchange ceased operations. Tipico Sportsbook left as well in late June, and both Superbook Sportsbook and Betway Sportsbook exited shortly thereafter in July.

Meanwhile, a few new NJ sportsbooks have launched in the state.

Bally Bet Sportsbook

Bally Bet Sportsbook is the most recent new addition in New Jersey, having gone live in late November 2024 with Bally Atlantic City its land-based partner. In fact, Bally Bet also launched a new online casino product at the same time, and users in NJ can easily toggle back and forth between the two platforms while using the same account, if they like. There is an “all-in-one” app powered by White Hat Gaming that you can download that will take you to either the Bally Bet Casino or to the online sportsbook.

Bally Bet has been offering online sports betting in several other states going back to 2021, but this marks the debut of the brand in NJ. The new Bally Bet Sportsbook offers comprehensive coverage of all the usual betting markets such as found on other NJ sports betting apps.

Prime Sportsbook

Following a soft launch the week before, the new Prime Sportsbook site and app went fully live in the state in early April 2024. The site has sought to distinguish itself from others by not limiting either the size of bets or how much bettors can withdraw from their accounts. Prime has also placed an emphasis on offering better odds, reduced juice, and different markets from the larger sites as it tries to claim some of the sports betting action.

Prime first launched in Ohio in late 2023, with NJ becoming its second state as it eyes potentially expanding elsewhere. During its first few months it has struggled in NJ, even posting some negative revenue totals as it hopes to gather some momentum and compete.

Fanatics Sportsbook

Meanwhile, when Fanatics Sportsbook went live in May 2024, it brought a more established brand to bettors. As happened in several other states, Fanatics essentially took over the spot formerly occupied by PointsBet Sportsbook in NJ. Fanatics acquired the US operations of PointsBet in 2023, and by the time it launched its new sportsbook in NJ it was up and running in 20 different states. The Fanatics Casino likewise went live in the state at the same time the sportsbook arrived.

Both the sportsbook and casino are accessible via the Fanatics Sportsbook app. In fact, there is no web-based version of either, meaning you can only access Fanatics via a mobile device. LeoVegas Sportsbook

Tipico’s shutdown coincided with its acquisition by the LeoVegas Group which is a subsidiary of MGM Resorts International. As the deal becomes finalized, LeoVegas looks to launch its own online sportsbook using the old Tipico technology in multiple states, including New Jersey. Based in Stockholm, the LeoVegas Group already offers sports betting in the UK and other jurisdictions where its sportsbook has received positive response from bettors.

NoviBet Sportsbook

A couple of years ago, Malta-based NoviBet partnered with Caesars, paving the way for the company to acquire licensing to operate its online casino and sportsbook apps in New Jersey. The latest from the company suggests that a NoviBet is still on the table, but there hasn’t been an update lately regarding if or when it might launch.
