Golden Nugget online casino launched live dealer table games in its New Jersey online casino in August 2016.
Two years after making waves in the NJ online casino market, live dealer games are coming to life at Borgata.
Golden Nugget is making room for Borgata Casino
Borgata recently soft-launched live dealer games in its online casinos. It hosts Borgata Casino online, playMGM, and PartyCasino NJ in its NJ online casino network, and live dealer games are now available on all three platforms.
Golden Nugget has held a monopoly on live dealer games and doesn’t seem too worried about the new competition. It is quite remarkable that Golden Nugget was able to operate for nearly two years without live dealer competition considering the games’ success and popularity with players.
In fact, Golden Nugget appears to be renting its live dealer game studio to the newcomer. Borgata players familiar with Golden Nugget’s live dealer games will see some familiar faces and the same tables.
Depending on its success, it is not out of the realm of possibility for Borgata to eventually build its own studio.
Borgata launches with four live dealer games
Considering Borgata is likely using Golden Nugget’s studio, it makes sense they are offering the same games with one exception, Live Casino Floor Roulette.
Live Casino Floor Roulette, which just launched in March, remains exclusive to Golden Nugget. Live Casino Floor Roulette is streamed directly from the casino floor and allows online players to play with customers in the casino.
Borgata’s online live dealer games include:
- American Blackjack Live
- Casino Hold’em Live
- American Roulette Live
- Baccarat Dragon Bonus Live
Live dealer games are running 2 p.m. – 3 a.m. on Monday through Wednesday and 12 p.m. – 3 a.m. on Thursday through Sunday. All three sites — Borgata online, playMGM, and PartyCasino — showcase the four live dealer games.
How will live dealer games benefit Borgata?
Many credit live dealer games as a contributor to some of Golden Nugget’s dominance in the NJ online casino market. In March, Golden Nugget earned double the revenue of its nearest competitor, Borgata.
Borgata casino online has been sitting solidly in second place in revenue for quite a while. But in March, Caesars closed the gap coming within just over $100,000 of Borgata.
It will take much more than live dealer games to bring Borgata within striking distance of Golden Nugget. Live dealer games will, however, most likely give Borgata an advantage over Caesars online and may widen the gap between second and third place.
More online casinos entering the New Jersey gaming market
The timing of the soft launch couldn’t be better for Borgata casino and its online network. Hard Rock Atlantic City and Ocean Resort Casino have plans to launch online casinos later this year. Starting new offerings and solidifying its customer base will position Borgata to withstand the new competition.
Evolution recently opened its first online live dealer game studio outside of Europe in British Columbia. It only makes sense they are looking to expand in North America. Evolution posted a 30 percent year-over-year increase in revenue for March 2018. That number speaks to the global popularity of live dealer games.
The details, including which casino will be partnering with Evolution Gaming, are still unknown. Online casinos will launch in Pennsylvania later this year. It’s possible Evolution will be looking for a casino partner with ties to both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania markets.
As more casinos come online, expect live dealer games to take center stage. Golden Nugget’s and Evolution’s revenue success stories make live dealer games a must have when creating an online gaming portfolio.
