In celebration of 45 years on the World’s Most Famous Boardwalk, Bally’s is undergoing a bit of a glow-up in hopes of restoring some of its former glory.

Once considered one of the premier casinos in Atlantic City, Bally’s has been diligently trying to recapture its prestige after years of neglect.

Since 2020, Bally’s has been the recipient of nearly $100 million in capital investments, including completely renovated hotel rooms, the addition of a year-round entertainment venue (The Yard) and the installation of the city’s only carousel bar.

As the property approaches its 45th anniversary, Bally’s Atlantic City is going all in on a new guest experience that features a new steakhouse, VIP players’ lounge, high-limit slot room and rewards card center, all of which will be rolled out for summer 2024 at Bally’s, according to a press release.

Visitors can also indulge in some ’70s nostalgia at “Disco Inferno” every Sunday night, featuring music from the era’s biggest stars.

A special hotel package that includes a $45 food and beverage credit is also available all summer, while hotel guests who randomly stay on the 45th floor will receive a complimentary gift. Visitors are encouraged to enter the $1.45 million 45th anniversary sweepstakes.

“We are thrilled to celebrate 45 years of success and growth at Bally’s Atlantic City,” said Michael Monty, general manager and vice president of the property.

“These exciting enhancements reflect our dedication to providing our guests with the best possible experience and ensuring that their time with us is truly exceptional.”

What summer 2024 has in store for Bally’s

Park Place Prime steakhouse will take the place of Guy Fieri’s Chophouse. While other gambling companies are doubling down on celebrity chef concepts, Bally’s says it is paying homage to the property’s roots and its host city with Park Place Prime.

The all-new Legacy Lounge at Bally’s features some of the best ocean views in Atlantic City. Higher-tier rewards cardholders will be able to access Legends Lounge seven days a week when it opens this summer.

Also worth noting — Bally’s will be the only Atlantic City casino with an operational beach bar this summer. Beach erosion from winter storms has incapacitated the beach bars at Resorts Casino Hotel (Landshark will be open) and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Plenty of AC casino history at Boardwalk and Park Place

Bally’s Park Place opened on December 30, 1979. It was the third Atlantic City casino to open after Resorts International Casino Hotel (May 26, 1978) and the Boardwalk Regency (June 26, 1979).

Long-time Atlantic City visitors recall that the sixth floor at Bally’s was “the place to be” in Atlantic City in the late-80s and early- to mid-90s.

In 2003, Bally’s generated the most gambling revenue among Atlantic City’s 12 casinos.
