Police arrested a wanted Atlantic City man on Thursday, according to Breaking AC. He allegedly assaulted a police officer and then fled through Tropicana Casino.
Police said John McGettigan had at least one outstanding warrant in a pending case. This warrant was active when the incident happened. He allegedly assaulted Officer Jamira Norwood and then ran through the casino property.
Responding officers later took McGettigan into custody.
The Atlantic City man was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
McGettigan’s Other Pending Legal Cases
The arrest adds to an already active court calendar for McGettigan. Breaking AC reported that he had an arraignment previously scheduled for Monday in the terroristic threats case. He was indicted in that case on Jan. 8.
The report also said McGettigan has other pending charges, including an obstruction charge from last year.
The source report said authorities had not released additional details about the underlying terroristic threats case, whether Norwood was injured, or whether casino security personnel were involved in the pursuit through Tropicana.
