NJ Online Casino Bonuses
New Jersey online casinos offer excellent no deposit casino bonuses for first time players. This bonus is just for signing up at the casino site and requires no deposit.
Popular NJ online casino free money promotions include free spins on the most popular slot machines at each site or a free bet that players can use to try to win real money. In addition to these freeplay bonuses, each NJ online casino offers a signup bonus – usually a match bonus on the first deposit you make to the site.

NJ’s legal gambling sites are required to clearly list the terms of all bonuses and promotions, and we’re happy to point you in the right direction if you have questions – contact us.
Frequently asked questions about NJ online casino promotional offers
How NJ online casino no deposit bonuses work
Freeplay bonuses are a staple at the legal internet gambling sites, with nearly all NJ online casinos offering free bonus money in some way, shape, or form.
The premise is simple: Casino sites are betting that if you try their games for real money, you’re far more likely to make a deposit and play. So they’re willing to give you some free chips to play with to make that happen.
After all, even if you win, there’s a good chance you’ll try your luck with those winnings and become an even more engaged customer of the casino.
Like any promotion, terms and conditions do apply. These terms aren’t precisely the same at every NJ online casino, but a few central terms tend to repeat across most no deposit offers in New Jersey:
- New players only: Freeplay offers are generally only available to new customers.
- Playthrough: You may be required to wager your bonus and winnings a certain amount before you are able to cash out.
- Validation: Your account must be verified and approved by the operator.
- Opt-in: Operators may require you to claim the bonus (usually a simple click of a button or link).
- Time: You may need to claim to no deposit bonus within a certain amount of time from signing up.
- Expiration date: The bonus itself may expire if not used within a certain amount of time.
- Eligible games: Casinos sometimes limit the games you can try with your free chip bonus.
Let’s take an actual NJ online casino no deposit bonus to illustrate.
CaesarsCasino offers $10 free. To claim the bonus, you must:
- Be a new customer.
- Create and validate your CaesarsCasino.com account.
- Log in to your account, click the available bonus page and then click the “$10 credit claim” button.
- Your free money bonus will be credited within 72 hours of approval.
In terms of using the bonus:
- You must wager the $10 one time before you can cash it out.
- Any winnings are yours to keep and cash out.
- You have 30 days to use the bonus.
- The bonus is good for slots or video poker.
As you can see from the table above, free bonus money promotions are quite common at NJ’s licensed and legal casinos. Caesars offers some of the more favorable terms out of the various offers available, but most offers are relatively similar in terms of the ultimate value they offer to players.
The great thing about freeplay bonus, however, is that you’re not stuck to one casino.
In fact, there’s little reason not to try the freeplay bonuses at all of NJ’s online casinos – they obligate you in no way whatsoever, you might end up getting lucky and – if nothing else – you’ll have a better sense of which online casino you prefer without having to deposit a penny of your own funds.
How deposit bonuses work
Unlike freeplay bonuses, deposit bonuses – also referred to as match bonuses, or bonus match offers – require the player to make a deposit. The casino then awards the player some amount of bonus money, which typically can be wagered but not cashed out.
Match bonuses are similar in many ways to the free slot play a land-based casino customer might earn by playing a certain amount of slots.
As is the case with the no deposit offers, certain terms and conditions come along with the match bonus, and it’s important to understand these terms in order to properly evaluate the value you’re getting from a given deposit bonus.
Each site has its own specific NJ online casino bonus offer, but all contain fairly similar elements:
- Minimum deposit amount: Match bonuses will often require some minimum deposit amount to trigger.
- Match rate: This is the percentage component of the deposit bonus that indicates the rate at which your deposit will be matched. A 100% match bonus would match your deposit dollar-for-dollar.
- Maximum bonus: The largest possible bonus you can receive.
- Opt-in: NJ online casinos will sometimes require you to click an opt-in link or use a bonus code or promotional code to claim a bonus.
- Playthrough (wagering requirement): You aren’t able to cash out bonus funds until you wager a certain amount relative to those funds. We’ll provide an example to illustrate below.
- Game contribution to playthrough: Not all games contribute equally to playthrough requirements. Slots generally contribute at a higher rate than blackjack.
- Expiration: Players generally have some set amount of time to meet the playthrough / wagering requirement before a deposit bonus is voided.
Let’s return to Caesars for an illustration. CaesarsCasino offers a 100% match bonus up to $300.
The terms do not identify a minimum deposit. The match rate is 100% and the maximum bonus is $300, meaning that you would receive a bonus of $300 if you deposited $300.
The bonus is good on your first deposit only. You must select “Welcome Bonus offer” when logged into your account to opt-in.
You must wager an amount equal to 10 times the amount of your deposit and bonus. For the maximum bonus ($300) that means a wagering requirement of ($300+$300)*10 = $6000.
Not all wagers contribute to the requirement equally:
- Slots – 100%
- Video poker – 10%
- All other games – 5%
The upshot: You would have to wager $10 at video poker to accumulate $1 in wagering requirements. You would have to wager $20 at blackjack or roulette to accumulate the same $1 in wagering requirement.
You have 30 days to meet the wagering requirement or the remaining bonus in your account is voided.
Using NJ online casino bonus codes
One of the tools NJ’s online casinos use to track marketing campaigns are bonus codes (sometimes referred to as promo codes). These are codes you enter when you sign up for the casino (or sometimes when you make a deposit) in order to receive a certain promotion.
Sometimes using a NJ online casino promo code can allow you to qualify for an exclusive promotion. For example, the Tropicana promo code Play20 gives players $10 in extra free bets over the publicly-available offer.
NJ online casino promo codes vary from operator to operator. Codes are usually attached to a certain marketing campaign or a certain promotion, and may only work for a certain period of time.
Researching bonus codes and promo codes for online casinos is a smart way to make sure you get the best possible NJ online casino signup bonuses. Online casinos in New Jersey reserve their best promotions for their strongest marketing partners and most valuable customers, so not every bonus code and promo code at a NJ online casino is created equal.

NJ online casino market snapshot
With the launch of three new online casinos in 2015, the New Jersey online casino market is becoming increasingly crowded, as the six casinos that hold online gaming licenses have launched a dozen individual online casino brands.
Below you’ll find a summary of each license holder’s current online casino brands, the software provider they utilize, and their current place in the New Jersey online casino hierarchy.
Golden Nugget Atlantic City currently has three online casino brands operating under its interactive license:
- GoldenNuggetCasino.com – Launch date December 13, 2013
- BetfairCasino.com – Launch date November 21, 2013 (moved to GN on November 21, 2014)
- PlaySugarHouse.com – Launch date September 13, 2016
Golden Nugget got a late start due to some early technical issues, but once GN found its sea legs, the casino has been one of the biggest surprises in the legal NJ online gambling market.
GoldenNuggetCasino.com was powered by Bally Technologies/Scientific Games, but ended its deal with Scientific Games and switched to NYX Gaming. NYX also powers the Resorts and Mohegan Sun online casino platforms.
Because Betfair was an already-established brand in New Jersey, Betfair’s online casino operates on a completely separate platform from GoldenNuggetCasino.com, making both iCasinos standalone products – the only thing they share is a license.
The addition of Betfair in November of 2014 took Golden Nugget from a significant, but middling, player in the market and propelled it to the top of the state’s iCasino revenue generators. The addition of SugarHouse in late 2016 helped Golden Nugget climb to the very top of the NJ online gambling revenue charts.
Tropicana Casino and Resort Atlantic City also has two iCasino brands operating under its license:
- TropicanaCasino.com – Launch date November 21, 2013
- VirginCasino.com – Launch date January 24, 2014
Unlike Golden Nugget and Betfair, Tropicana and Virgin both use the same online gaming platform, powered by Gamesys.
From the outset, Tropicana’s online casino sites have been among the top revenue generators in the state.
One of the reasons for its success could be its early adoption of last-four Social Security number verification. The state’s other casinos were asking players to divulge their complete Social Security number while Tropicana was running player verification checks based on just the last four digits of customer’s SSN.
Tropicana was able to piece together the player’s full SSN through this method, but it has the advantage of appearing far less intrusive to the customer.
Several other casinos have or are in the process of switching to a last-four collection method, including Betfair and Golden Nugget.
Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa currently has three separate iCasino brands using its license:
- BorgataCasino.com – Launch date November 21, 2013
- NJ.partypoker.com – Launch date November 21, 2013
- PalaCasino.com – Launch date November 17, 2014
Borgata and its partner bwin.party (partypoker) have led the New Jersey online gaming market wire-to-wire, topping the monthly revenue reports since day one.
For most of that tim,e Borgata was the number one iCasino and number one iPoker platform in the state, but the emergence of other iCasinos has seen Borgata, Golden Nugget, and Tropicana take turns at the number one spot when it comes to New Jersey online casino revenue.
That being said, Borgata has one of the foggiest futures.
With partypoker (bwin.party) having been sold to GVC, Borgata will have some interesting choices to make in the near future. Borgata could do one of three things:
- Stay with partypoker.
- Jump ship to 888.
- Jump ship to PokerStars.
Bally’s and Caesars AC (Caesars)
Bally’s Atlantic City (one of Caesars’ three hotel casinos in Atlantic City) currently has two online casino brands operating under its interactive license:
- US.888Casino.com – Launch date November 21, 2013
- HarrahsCasino.com – Launch date November 21, 2013
Caesars Atlantic City hosts the company’s third online casino under a separate iGaming license:
- CaesarsCasino.com – Launch date November 21, 2013
All of the Caesars online casinos are powered by 888.
Caesars has been one of the top revenue generators from the outset, but a big chunk of Caesars’ revenue comes from online poker. Removing online poker from the equation pushes Caesars to the back of the pack of New Jersey’s iCasinos.
When it comes to iPoker, Caesar’s is very competitive with Borgata. Caesars boasts more cash game traffic while Borgata edges it out in revenue.
This middling performance by Caesars’ casinos is somewhat surprising, considering its brand recognition in New Jersey, and the fact that they have leveraged three separate iCasino brands – Harrah’s, Caesars, and 888, as well as WSOP.com.
Furthermore, 888 is involved in all three regulated markets (New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware) and Caesars is heavily involved in Nevada and New Jersey, so neither company is lacking in press.
Despite a very late start (ResortsCasino.com launched a full year after the other properties listed above), Resorts Casino now has two online casino brands operating under its iGaming license:
ResortsCasino.com has turned out to be a great success story, and has increased revenue each month since launch, and the addition of Mohegan Sun (a strong brand) has kept revenue ticking upwards.
For its online casinos, Resorts is partnered with NYX Gaming, but has a separate partner for online poker – the only casino in New Jersey to take such an approach.
The company partnered with PokerStars – a move that has, needless to say, worked out very well so far. PokerStars launched its New Jersey online poker room in March 2016, and quickly ascended to the top of the NJ market. And talk of a PokerStars-branded live poker room at Resorts in Atlantic City hasn’t gone away, though a timeline for such an addition remains unknown.
We will do our best to keep this page constantly updated with the latest casino bonus codes & promotions for New Jersey casino players. They consistently change so come back soon.
