Joe Lupo, president of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, has been appointed president of the Casino Association of New Jersey.
Lupo succeeds Terry Glebocki, the former CEO of Ocean Casino Resort. Glebocki resigned from both positions last month.
“I am honored to succeed Terry Glebocki as the next president of the Casino Association of New Jersey. Terry did a great job as a leader and we are grateful for her meaningful contributions to the industry,” Lupo said in a news release on Tuesday.
The CANJ is the Atlantic City gaming industry’s lobbying organization. All nine Atlantic City casinos are members.
Lupo: ‘Atlantic City’s best days lie ahead’
Lupo is one of the more outspoken and visible Atlantic City casino executives, making him an easy choice to head up CANJ.
He is also one of the more experienced Atlantic City casino executives. Only Tom Pohlman at Golden Nugget Atlantic City and Mark Giannantonio of Resorts Casino Hotel has led their respective properties longer than Lupo at Hard Rock.
Lupo’s resume spans 35 years, including over three decades with Boyd Gaming and 13 years as a senior executive at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. He joined Hard Rock International in 2016 and was president of Tampa’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino before returning to Atlantic City in 2018.
“I am prepared to lead the CANJ forward as we work to reinvigorate Atlantic City,” he said. “Our industry is invested in this community, and we believe with continued hard work and determination, Atlantic City’s best days lie ahead.”
