Heads up, New Jersey online gambling fans. A new way to fund your accounts is headed to the Garden State, and it’s as easy as loading up a gift card. The Game On card is expected to launch in October.
With users having issues funding online accounts using credit and debit cards, the Game On card offers a solution.
Essentially, the card acts like a prepaid gift card that New Jerseyians can use to turn cash into credit for a number of online casino and sportsbook brands operating in the state. Several prominent NJ retailers will start offering the cards in the fall.
When and where to find the Game On card in NJ
The process of using the card will be simple. The first step will be to load funds onto a card at participating retailers. In New Jersey, the following will offer the card starting in October:
- Stop & Shop
- Acme Markets
- Lowe’s
- Foodtown
The card’s producers, the Blackhawk Network, told PlayNJ that it plans to add more retailers available in NJ soon. After loading funds onto the card, users can then deposit as much of those dollars into their NJ online casino/sportsbook accounts.
Several NJ online casinos and sports betting brands have plans to integrate the cards into their apps and websites.
Because all the participating gambling companies will accept the funding source, users can split the Game On card funds between the disparate brands to their liking. At launch in NJ, those brands will include:
- BetMGM Online Casino
- DraftKings Sportsbook
- FanDuel Sportsbook
- PlaySugarHouse
- Parx Casino
- Hard Rock Casino
BetRivers in Pennsylvania also plans to allow the Game On payment option at its site.
Starting in October, NJ shoppers will find the Game On cards in the same places they would find the prepaid gift cards for other brands that are common in grocery stores and other retailers. Game On cards will also be available for purchase from GetGameOn.com in late-October.
While this will open up a new depositing option for online gambling customers, there is another benefit to this new funding source.
Benefits of the Game On prepaid gift card
People who gamble often do so responsibly by setting limits for themselves. This payment system makes that component of responsible gambling quite easy.
For example, let’s say you want to wager $200 per month on sports. You could load exactly that amount onto a card and then transfer those dollars to NJ online sports betting sites. Because you are using that preset amount to fund your wagers and aren’t setting up access to your general funds through a checking account, the danger of betting more than you can afford to lose is lessened.
Another attractive element of this payment method is the privacy it affords consumers. Instead of sharing bank account or debit card information online, gamblers can rest easy that if a security breach occurs, their payment details aren’t exposed.
It also means the end-user isn’t relying only on bank accounts and credit cards to deposit funds at NJ online casinos. It is universal and can be used on multiple sites where accepted, too.
For those reasons, even those with traditional checking accounts in NJ may opt to use this method of bankrolling their gambling entertainment online with a Game On card instead. Starting in October, the card’s services may buoy the customer bases of online casinos and sportsbooks in New Jersey.
