Barstool Sportsbook just received a massive upgrade.

The sportsbook is live in 16 US markets, including New Jersey. Players nationwide now have access to a revitalized Barstool Sportsbook app.

We gave the new app a try and liked what we saw. Here’s an overview of our NJ sports betting experience with the new Barstool app.

How to get the new Barstool Sportsbook NJ app

Great news: If you already have the Barstool Sportsbook NJ app, you’ll automatically have the upgraded experience available to you, so long as you have automatic updates enabled on your mobile device.

Otherwise, you can head to the iOS App Store or Google Play Store to download the newest version.

If you’re new to Barstool Sportsbook, you can download it for Apple or Android devices from the corresponding app store. You can also use Barstool Sportsbook via desktop.

Hands-on with upgraded Barstool Sportsbook

I downloaded the new app as soon as it became available and spent some time testing out the new features. In general, I was very pleased with the experience. Here are a few highlights.

First and foremost, navigation is a breeze. I’ve long used DraftKings and FanDuel, so my standards in this area are high. A sportsbook should have seamless transitions between pages and make everything feel intuitive. The new Barstool app does exactly that. My personal favorite improvement is the newly streamlined homepage. Quite literally from top to bottom, it feels like a brand new sportsbook.

The top menu has options for boosts, Barstool exclusives, and in-season sports or leagues. Each has its own simple logo, making it easy to find and select any sport or category you’d like to bet on.

Right below the top menu, there’s a selection of live matchups. At the time of this writing, it was Wimbledon matches. The scores and stats were updated in real-time as I perused the app. All great stuff so far, and we haven’t even made it halfway down the screen!

Front-and-center, Barstool displayed current NJ sports betting promos. You can scroll side-to-side to see what’s new in terms of promotions and special offers. Among the offers was a Golf Live Bet Tiered Bonus giving me up to $30 in bonus bets. I’m particularly excited to see how this section shapes up when we reach autumn and more sports are in season.

Next, we come to a comprehensive display of the day’s upcoming games. MLB is the star of the show here, with Wimbledon taking the second spot. A few games/matches are featured, alongside the option to see all games for a particular league or sport.

Finally, the bottom menu includes four options: home, My Bets, Live, and Browse. Each is exactly what you’d expect.

Further improvements to the Barstool app

So far I’ve only covered the homepage of the new app. There are countless other changes that make Barstool a reinvigorated betting experience, including:

  • More markets, including beefed-up in-game betting options and player prop bets
  • Speedier deposits, withdrawals, and load times
  • New Barstool exclusive offers
  • Improved cash out

One of the highest-impact changes is the revamped integration with theScore app. TheScore is owned by Barstool’s parent company, PENN Entertainment. Now, the apps connect like never before. You can use the same login credentials to access Bartool Sportsbook and theScore. What’s more, you can build bet slips and track your wagers within theScore though you need to visit Barstool Sportsbook to actually place the bet.

For sports fans who like to follow traditional media channels, this is a huge bonus. TheScore has excellent coverage of sports, and the upgraded integration with Barstool makes for a unique crossover experience.

What Barstool Sportsbook has to say

This major upgrade comes on the heels of hard work from the PENN Entertainment business to integrate all of its offerings. Benjie Levy, Head of Penn Interactive and President and COO, theScore said in a press release:

“Deploying our technology infrastructure puts our experienced in-house team, who built the platform from the ground up, in full control of the end-to-end customer journey and all product development. With this proven technology powering a significantly enhanced Barstool Sportsbook, we are primed to deliver a world class online sportsbook and casino experience to customers in the U.S.”

Based on our initial time with the new app, it seems PENN and its other brands are well-poised to offer great betting experiences for NJ and US players.
