The 2024 Belmont Stakes is set to run this Saturday, June 8, with a 6:41 p.m. post time.

The race is the third leg of the Triple Crown, following the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, which both ran in May.

Ten horses will run the race, including Dornoch, a horse with multiple New Jersey owners.

2024 Belmont Stakes post positions and morning line odds

This year’s Belmont Stakes will not bring the excitement of a potential Triple Crown winner, a term used for a horse that wins all three major American thoroughbred horse races in a year.

That’s because two different horses won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. Derby winner Mystik Dan finished in second place two weeks later in the Preakness, 2 ¼ lengths behind Seize the Grey.

Both of those horses will compete on Saturday and are among the favorites to win two of the year’s three major races.

The complete list of horses, including their post positions and morning line Belmont Stakes betting odds, are listed below. The post position and morning line odds were finalized at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 3.

Remember, Belmont Stakes odds are pari-mutuel. They will change up until the beginning of the race, based on the total money wagered on each horse. The odds you receive when you place a wager will likely differ from the finalized odds at the start of the race.

Can NJ-owned Dornoch impress in the Empire State?

New Jerseyans will not have a native horse to root for in the 2024 Belmont Stakes. However, Dornoch, the 10th-place finisher at the Kentucky Derby, has two New Jersey owners.

Two of its five owners include Raymond Hill III of Franklin Lakes (R. A. Hill Stable) and Vito Cucci, chef and owner of Nanina’s in the Park Restaurant in Essex County.

Dornoch could follow in the footsteps of a previous New Jersey horse, Irish War Cry. After finishing 10th in the 2017 Derby, Irish War Cry took second in the 2017 Belmont Stakes.

That said, Irish War Cry finished with 5-2 odds and was the favorite to win the race. A Dornoch win would be more improbable: He has the second-longest morning line odds at 15-1.

Belmont Stakes 2024 horses

The Belmont Stakes represents the last major opportunity of the year for New Jersey horse betting. It’s not too late to take part in the action, even if you’ve remained on the sidelines for the first two legs of the Triple Crown.

FanDuel Racing is the primary option available for New Jerseyans, and new members can even enjoy some house money to match what they’ve ponied up.

All you need to do is join FanDuel Racing and place a wager on the Belmont Stakes. That first wager comes with a $500 No Sweat First Bet, meaning FanDuel Racing will refund your wager (up to $500) in horse race credits for future races.

As for which horse to bet on, that’s your choice. Here’s a little more information on each horse to get you started.

  • Seize the Grey – Won 2024 Preakness, earlier wins in 2024 at Churchill Downs and Oaklawn Park. Also won 2023 Maiden Special Weight race at Saratoga.
  • Sierra Leone – Finished second in 2024 Kentucky Derby, did not run the Preakness. Won 2024 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland in April.
  • Resilience – 6th in 2024 Kentucky Derby
  • Dornoch – 10th in 2024 Kentucky Derby
  • Mindframe – Has run two races lifetime and won both (at Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park)—same owner as Fierceness, the Derby favorite who finished in 15th.
  • Honor Marie – 8th in 2024 Derby
  • Antiquarian – Won the 2024 Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont in May. (This year’s Belmont Stakes is at Saratoga Raceway due to construction and renovations at Belmont Park.)
