Fanatics Sportsbook’s Fair Play Max Shields New Jersey Bettors’ Player Props

Every bettor who’s ever had a player prop lose on the first drive knows the feeling. Fanatics Sportsbook NJ aims to make that feeling less common for its New Jersey NFL and college football customers.

Fair Play Max is the umbrella for two separate protections running through the whole football season. First Half Protection refunds or voids a player prop bet when the athlete leaves the game injured before halftime. Forward Progress, new in 2026, protects rushing and receiving prop overs from being dragged under the line by kneel-downs and other non-competitive plays late in a game that’s already decided.

Fanatics Sportsbook has offered some form of injury protection since 2024, and pushed the coverage out to the first half of every professional football game in September 2025.

Forward Progress solves a narrower, more specific problem: a player who’s already cleared the prop total getting shorted on the box score because his team started running out the clock.

Does the policy actually deliver when it’s tested?

First Half Protection got tested in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season, when Kansas City receiver Xavier Worthy left a game with a shoulder injury.

Fanatics said Fair Play issued full cash refunds on the single-player prop bets tied to Worthy rather than settling them as losses.

The company said the policy has protected more than 500,000 bets and saved bettors roughly $54 million industrywide.

What makes Fair Play Max special?

DraftKings’ Early Exit program offers a comparable cash credit for bets significantly affected by an early injury, with coverage running through the first half. FanDuel’s Bet Protect covers pre-game NFL player props too, but only if the injury happens in the first quarter, roughly half of Fanatics’ coverage window.

TheScore Bet’s Injury Insurance refunds a bet as a bonus bet once the injured player is officially ruled out for the game. FanDuel also sells a separate paid version, Bet Protect+, with a 3% fee for full-game coverage, but it’s currently limited to NBA props and isn’t approved in New Jersey.

Fanatics isn’t charging anything extra for Play Fair Max.

A free injury refund is table stakes at this point. A free refund for a kneel-down nobody bet against is the part actually worth remembering.
