The Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel could close on Dec. 15 if it does not receive a state tax break, according to a report.

Owner LINY Investor LLC said it needs financial assistance to prevent the property from shutting down.

Closure Isn’t the Only Scenario for the Property

Beyond the potential December closure, the plans also call for partial conversion of the Sheraton hotel into senior housing.

The source gave no details on the conversion scope or its effect on hotel operations.

Workers and the City Face an Unresolved Situation

The latest warning follows an earlier round of layoff notices sent in July to 99 workers.  The source report did not specify the number of employees currently working at the hotel.

The requested state tax break also has no confirmed status at the moment.

The situation adds another layer of uncertainty for a major Atlantic City casino and hospitality industry central to the city’s broader tourism market.
