DraftKings Shuts Down Its In-House Live Dealer Studio: What That Means For NJ Casino Players

DraftKings announced earlier this week the shut down of its bespoke live dealer studio in Atlantic City. While the industry mourns the loss of over 100 jobs, players can take comfort in the fact that live dealer games aren’t going anywhere, though moving to a new studio might produce a change in the look and feel.

A DraftKings spokesperson said in a statement:

“As we finalize our GNOG integration, effective January 31, 2025, DraftKings will transition its in-house live dealer operations to third-party studios in Atlantic City. While this change will affect some positions, we are supporting impacted employees to ensure a smooth transition, for as many as possible. Our live dealer offerings will remain uninterrupted.”

DraftKings Casino NJ leads the Garden State in year-to-date (YTD) revenue through September. That likely won’t change with the closing of its live dealer studio.

DraftKings’ live dealer titles won’t change for NJ players

The bespoke live dealer studios gave players the illusion of being in a real casino while playing table games, not only on DraftKings, but on other NJ online casinos, too.

Despite the shuttering of the bespoke studio, DraftKings is likely not to miss a beat, still offering the same titles through a third-party studio in Atlantic City.

That third-party studio is likely to be Evolution Gaming, which lists DraftKings as a partner on the company’s website.

Since DraftKings’ offers will remain uninterrupted, here are the top live casino games listed in its lobby:

  • Blackjack
  • Fun Fun 21
  • Live American Roulette
  • Adventures Beyond Wonderland
  • Cashback Blackjack
  • VIP Blackjack
  • VIP Baccarat
  • Auto American Roulette

Live dealer games are still an integral part of the company’s success.

Live dealer layout might look different for players

Once Jan. 31 rolls around, New Jersey players might be seeing a different layout than what they’ve been used to. The feeling of being in a casino might not be the same.

However, DraftKings branding is likely to be maintained on the tables and throughout the games. It’ll be interesting to see how it’ll affect the experience for players, if it does at all.

DraftKings parting ways with its bespoke studios could trigger a domino effect for other operators, too. Since the operator is keeping the same offerings, it likely won’t impact the bottom-line.

There are three full months before DraftKings closes up shop. We’ll have a better understanding after the first quarter of 2025.

All told, not much changes for New Jersey online casino players.
