Fanatics has increased its physical presence in New Jersey, announcing a new retail casino location inside Ocean Casino Resort on Thursday.
Not coincidentally, the opening perfectly coincides with the start of the NFL season.
Fanatics is relatively new to the NJ sports betting scene, launching its online product in May. Ocean Casino is the first retail location Fanatics has entered in New Jersey.
Fanatics Sportsbook to provide ‘ultimate sports viewing experience’
Now that the operator has a strong online presence in New Jersey – not only with an online sportsbook but also with Fanatics Casino NJ – building a physical one appeared to be important for the new operator.
The Fanatics Sportsbook is located inside The Gallery, with 12,000 square feet of a gaming and bar experience that is considered to be the casino’s centerpiece. Ari Borod, Fanatics Betting and Gaming chief business officer, sees this as another opportunity for growth.
“As Fanatics grows its gaming presence in New Jersey, Ocean represents the perfect partner to deliver an elevated retail sports betting experience at the premier hotel in Atlantic City,” he said in a press release.
The announcement called the new retail sportsbook at Ocean Casino the “ultimate sports viewing experience.” The area sits on a 100-foot elevated bar and lounge that seats 60 guests. There are slot machines, table games, and 140 feet of LED walls surrounding the sportsbook.
Betting windows and self-service kiosks are available for customers. There is also a 17-foot open-air staircase that leads to a balcony bar, a mezzanine bar and lounge. Fanatics is providing a VIP experience for sports fans.
“Fanatics boasts an unmatched roster of the world’s most renown sports leagues, teams, and global brands and we are excited to present these to our guests here at Ocean.” Bill Callahan, General Manager for Ocean Casino Resort, said.
Fanatics looks to drive more revenue in NJ
Building a top-notch sports viewing experience is another way to grow brand awareness in New Jersey. And, hopefully, that leads to additional revenue in the Garden State.
Fanatics has gotten off to a decent start since transitioning from PointsBet to its own brand in May. Out of 15 sports betting operators, it finished fifth in July revenue. The operator has posted the following totals:
- May: $2 million
- June: $1.8 million
- July: $2.7 million
Those numbers are expected to grow as college football and the NFL are in full swing, starting on Thursday night. Known as a sports merchandise company, Fanatics is starting to make waves in the gambling industry. The company is now live in 22 states after taking over for PointsBet.
Providing a quality viewing experience is only going to grow its sports betting brand. And in New Jersey, while Fanatics can grow its NJ online casino product at the same time, which is arguably even more important.
