Golden Nugget is bringing back free parking at the Atlantic City casino. Customers started enjoying the perk last Friday at 5 p.m.
Golden Nugget Atlantic City implemented a $10 fee starting in August last year. Prior to that, it was the only gambling property in South Jersey to provide complimentary parking. Now, it can hold that title once again.
Tom Pohlman, Golden Nugget general manager, told the Press of Atlantic City:
“It was an important part of our business, and we’re glad to offer it again. Parking is now free all day, every day.”
There was no reason provided on why the casino started charging customers for parking. Since those days are behind Golden Nugget, it is certainly a ploy to win over some players.
Caesars charges the most for parking
While Golden Nugget is the only property to offer free parking in Atlantic City, which one charges the most? That would be Caesars Atlantic City.
According to its website, Caesars charges hotel guests $20 a day Monday through Thursday for self-parking. On weekends, the facility raises the price to $25. It does not specify pricing for non-hotel guests.
Harrah’s Atlantic City is also on the expensive side, charging same-day customers $20 during the week, but the same $20 on weekends.
Most of the other casinos in Atlantic City are in the ballpark of $15. Borgata Atlantic City, which is the top-grossing property, charges $10 for parking for any day of the week, which is one of the cheaper rates.
Other properties have different fees for certain days of the week. For example, weekend parking will usually be $5 more than on weekdays. Ocean Casino set its price at $15 for all days.
Out of the nine AC casinos, Golden Nugget finished seventh, generating $10.2 million in slots and table games revenue in January. It remains to be seen how much the free parking moves the needle. Either way, Golden Nugget is giving more incentive to gamble at its facility.
