It finally happened.
Over a decade since it first launched, the New Jersey online casino has recorded its first month with over $200 million in revenue, as operators combined to generate $208.1 million during the month of September, according to data released by the Division of Gaming Enforcement.
The new mark tops the previous record of $198.4 million set in August and represents the third straight month when iGaming revenue increased in the Garden State.
NJ online casinos catching up to Atlantic City
The nine best revenue months in New Jersey history have come in 2024. Four of them at one point stood as the highest monthly total ever, including each of the past two.
Just for some perspective on the growth of online casinos in New Jersey: The $208.1 million reported in September is more than the first 20 months of iGaming in the Garden State combined.
It’s also the closest NJ online casinos have come to revenue generated by Atlantic City casinos since January. According to DGE data, land-based properties reported $230.6 million last month, its lowest September since 2020 and just $22.5 million more than online casinos.
Overall, iGaming accounted for about 37% of total gaming revenue in New Jersey thanks to a massive 27% year-over-year increase. But online casino gaming, according to a statement from Jane Bokunewicz – faculty director of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism (LIGHT) at Stockton University – “seemed to leave brick-and-mortar gaming revenues behind.”
“Year-to-date internet gaming continues to represent a significant share of Atlantic City operators’ revenue mix,” Bokunewicz said, “contributing 40.8% of the total revenue for the industry through the first three-quarters of the year compared to brick-and-mortar at 50.7%.”

Online casinos set to break more records
With the record revenue last month, online casinos in New Jersey have now generated $1.73 billion in NJ online gambling revenue.
To put that into perspective, iGaming operators combined for over $1.9 billion in all of 2023. Through nine months, NJ online casinos are 23.2% ahead of that record-setting pace.

DraftKings, FanDuel continue to set the pace
For the sixth straight month, and for the eighth time this year, DraftKings Casino NJ sat atop the rankings for revenue share. The operator generated $45.83 million in September revenue that is not only its highest since the DGE began reporting revenue figures for individual skins at the start of 2024, but is also the highest of any single online casino in New Jersey.
Of course, FanDuel Casino NJ was close behind with its highest 2024 total, as well, at $45.33 million.
Notably, both BetMGM Casino NJ (third with $26 million) and Hard Rock Bet Casino NJ (sixth with $10.8 million) also saw their best revenue totals in September. It continues to support the trend that operators are finding ways to remain relatively competitive in the expansive NJ online casino market.
More firsts from licenseholders
The individual online casinos can receive more accolades these days, now that the state reports revenue for individual skins. However, land-based partners also set a few records in September.
For example, Golden Nugget – which along with FanDuel boasts four other online partners, including BetRivers Casino NJ – became the first licenseholder in the Garden State to crack the $60 million barrier, finishing September with $61.8 million.
In addition, Resorts ($52.9 million), Borgata ($48.2 million), and Hard Rock Atlantic City ($12.3 million) reported their single-month highs in September.
