Atlantic City’s retail market lost momentum in June, with five of the nine properties reporting lower revenue than a year ago.
Properties combined for $257.3 million last month, according to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. That was 0.7% below June 2025 as weaker table game results erased the growth from slots.
Despite the slight decline, Atlantic City casinos remain ahead of last year’s pace. Revenue reached $1.41 billion through the first half of 2026, representing an increase of 2.3%.
Stockton University gaming analyst Brian Tyrrell called June “a strong month that only suffered in comparison to other recently stronger months.”
The strong month is referring to New Jersey online casinos. The vertical outperformed Atlantic City in the month of June for the first time ever.
Table games drag down June casino revenue
Slot revenue increased 1.7% year over year to nearly $186 million, but the improvement was erased by a 6.4% decline from table games.
Borgata Atlantic City and Bally’s were among the properties hit hardest. Borgata’s table game revenue fell 17.3%, turning modest slot growth into a 5.9% overall decline.
Bally’s Atlantic City recorded an even sharper 39.2% drop at the tables, overwhelming its 5.2% increase from slots.
The June downturn has not yet affected the market’s year-to-date trajectory. Table game revenue remains 3.6% ahead of last year, while slot win is up 1.8%.
Tyrrell cautioned, however, that higher gross gaming revenue does not necessarily translate into stronger profits, as inflation, competition, wage increases and tax changes continue to pressure operators.
Borgata maintains comfortable lead over rivals
Borgata remained Atlantic City’s top-performing casino by a wide margin, producing $72.2 million in June revenue.
Hard Rock Atlantic City ranked second with $46.2 million and edged ahead of last year. Stronger table game results offset a small decline from slots.
Ocean Casino Resort followed with $43.5 million. Its overall result was nearly flat as double-digit table game growth was erased by weaker slot play.
Ocean has also performed well through the first half of 2026, with revenue up 6.6%. Borgata remains the year-to-date leader, while Hard Rock is slightly ahead of its 2025 pace.
Harrah’s leads June’s biggest gainers
Harrah’s Atlantic City delivered the largest percentage increase of any Atlantic City casino in June. Revenue jumped 15.7% to $19.8 million, led by stronger slot play.
Caesars Atlantic City revenue climbed 8.1%, while Tropicana Atlantic City improved 8.5% despite collecting less from table games.
Golden Nugget Atlantic City posted the steepest decline, falling 10.3%. Resorts Atlantic City dropped 9.1%, while Bally’s finished 7.7% below last June.
The mixed results left Atlantic City’s market nearly flat for June, but the industry remains ahead of its 2025 pace heading into the rest of the summer.
