The Atlantic City retail industry and the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) announced that their Casinos Unite Against Hunger campaign has raised nearly $400,000 since launching in May 2025, providing the equivalent of more than 1.2 million meals to people facing food insecurity across South Jersey.
The milestone was reached following CFBNJ’s inaugural Meal on a Mission: A Chef’s Tableside Experience, held June 12 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
The event brought together Atlantic City casinos, local businesses, community leaders, acclaimed chefs, and supporters to raise funds for anti-hunger efforts throughout the region.
Atlantic City properties support fundraising milestone
The fundraising effort generated nearly $120,000 for CFBNJ from Atlantic City’s industry partners.
The total included a $50,000 contribution from the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) and another $50,000 donation from Hard Rock Atlantic City in honor of the property’s eighth anniversary.
Several retail operators participated as event sponsors. Hard Rock served as the host and Culinary Visionary Sponsor, while CANJ also participated as a Culinary Visionary Sponsor. Caesars Atlantic City joined as Executive Chef Sponsor, and Borgata Atlantic City and Ocean Casino Resort participated as Epicurean Sponsors.
Chefs and restaurants representing Borgata, Caesars, Golden Nugget Atlantic City, and Hard Rock took part in the event.
Hard Rock and CANJ President George Goldhoff said in a statement:
“Meal on a Mission is a powerful example of what can happen when the Atlantic City community comes together around a common goal.
“Through our partnership with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Atlantic City’s casino industry is helping to create a meaningful, lasting impact for our families facing food insecurity throughout our region.”
Retail industry support extends beyond donations
Beyond direct financial contributions, property employees have participated in volunteer initiatives and community outreach programs. During the 2025 holiday season, the industry supported a mobile food pantry in Ventnor and helped provide 1,200 turkeys to families in need.
Additional contributions continued in 2026, including a $20,000 donation from Caesars and a $10,000 donation from MGM Resorts Foundation.
CFBNJ President and CEO Elizabeth McCarthy said the organization’s work remains critical for families facing food insecurity across New Jersey. She said:
“Every day, too many individuals and families around New Jersey face difficult choices between paying bills, keeping a roof over their heads, and putting food on the table.”
CFBNJ is New Jersey’s largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization, supplying food to more than 800 local assistance organizations across 15 counties throughout the state.
