Golden Nugget announced that it is re-opening its retail sportsbook in Atlantic City on Jan. 29, just in time for the Super Bowl, which could feature the nearby Philadelphia Eagles.

The new Golden Nugget Sportsbook is going to include “state-of-the-art technology” and new features visitors and bettors can enjoy. Some of those include:

  • Added betting markets such as UFC/MMA, college baseball, college softball, women’s college basketball, men’s college hockey and the Summer and Winter Olympics
  • Same game parlays
  • Teasers
  • Alternate spreads
  • Wider range of player and team props
  • Boosted odds and early cashouts

Tom Pohlman, Golden Nugget General Manager said in a statement:

“Perfectly timed for guests to get their bets in for the Super Bowl, we are launching new and improved technology and betting options. Our team is committed to providing an elevated betting atmosphere, and these enhancements are proof of that.”

The page for the retail sportsbook on Golden Nugget’s website offers a message explaining the closure:

Golden Nugget is always seeking ways to enhance our guests’ gaming experience. We are currently upgrading our Sportsbook technology and transitioning to a new platform.

However, it’s unclear when that took place. Web archives reveal only that the message appeared sometime after mid-September, and Golden Nugget’s social media feeds mention the reopening but not the closure.

Eagles Super Bowl appearance could provide a boost

The sportsbook is currently located off the main atrium, which has more than 50 TVs and five video walls. It also includes numerous betting kiosks with all of the added features.

Food and drink is also available in the sportsbook, setting up a premium experience at Golden Nugget.

Atlantic City casinos reside near the beach in South Jersey, which an extension of the Greater Philadelphia area.

The Eagles are one win away from reaching the Super Bowl.

An Eagles Super Bowl appearance on Feb. 9 would likely draw a majority Philadelphia crowd. Golden Nugget could get creative with its sports betting offerings on the Eagles, especially with player props and boosted odds.

The Eagles are a 6-point favorite against division rival Washington Commanders, who upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the top-seeded Detroit Lions on the road. The Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams in Philadelphia.

An Eagles win would pit them against either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Buffalo Bills on Super Bowl Sunday.
