Save The Date: Hollywood Online Casino Replaces Barstool Tuesday

Calendar date of Nov. 14 circling the logo of Hollywood Online Casino, which will transition from Barstool on the same date as the launch of ESPN Bet.

The anticipated launch of ESPN Bet expects to take place on Tuesday. But that’s not the only change coming for PENN Entertainment in New Jersey.

Come Nov. 14, the NJ online casino landscape will have a rebranded platform that could seem familiar to some users here.

One Tuesday, along with the launch of ESPN Bet, PENN Entertainment will also introduce Hollywood Online Casino to New Jersey players.

Hollywood Casino enters NJ online gambling world, replacing Barstool

With the Barstool brand exiting the Garden State, two online gambling platforms open up. The NJ sports betting side, of course, will consist of the ESPN Bet NJ brand.

As for the online casino side?

According to a spokesperson from PENN, the Hollywood Casino brand “will be accessible within ESPN Bet via mobile and web.”

“If you’re in the state of Pennsylvania, for example, and you’re within ESPN Bet betting on sports, you’ll be able to wager by clicking on the Casino icon,” Jay Snowden, CEO of PENN, said during a company earnings call over the summer, “and go to Hollywood Casino seamlessly within the same app and platform the way that you can today between Barstool Sportsbook and Barstool iCasino.”

The Hollywood brand will then exist in four states with legal online casino gaming:

  • New Jersey
  • Michigan
  • Pennsylvania
  • West Virginia

Of note, in Pennsylvania, the Hollywood casino platform will “discontinue operations” on Dec. 14. On that date, according to its website, customers’ accounts will be permanently closed. Then, users can create a new account “on our soon to be launched new Hollywood Casino platform.”

What will happen to my existing Barstool account?

Just a few months after PENN and ESPN entered into a 10-year partnership, the company’s announced a target date of Nov. 14 to launch the new sports betting brand.

The deal allows for ESPN to take the place of Barstool Sportsbook. Of course, Barstool also featured a New Jersey online casino. So, the question arose: What will happen to that vertical?

Soon after the sports betting announcement, news emerged for PENN debuting the Hollywood online casino brand in New Jersey in place of Barstool.

PENN assured customers that all existing accounts with Barstool Sportsbook & Casino NJ “will remain unchanged and be made available on Hollywood Casino, including account balances, transaction history, responsible gaming limits, stored payment methods and any open wagers.”

In addition, all account settings will remain the same, including log-in information.

Basically, the only thing that changes is the casino brand. Everything else remains status quo.
