New Jersey online poker players are about to see PokerStars operate a little differently.
The company is preparing to move its poker product under a new PokerStars x FanDuel Hub, consolidating access through the FanDuel Casino platform. While the games themselves aren’t expected to change, the infrastructure behind them will.
The standalone PokerStars experience in New Jersey will transition to a FanDuel-based login system, part of a broader strategy by parent company Flutter Entertainment.
A corporate shift, not a new operator
This isn’t a new company entering the market. FanDuel and PokerStars are both owned by Flutter, one of the largest gambling operators in the world.
Instead, the move appears to be about brand consolidation.
FanDuel is already one of the dominant sportsbook and online casino operators in New Jersey. Housing PokerStars within that ecosystem creates a single account structure across sports wagering, casino, and poker.
For players, that means one wallet and unified access. The PokerStars software and player pools in New Jersey are not expected to disappear.
However, PokerStars confirmed that its PokerStars Rewards program will sunset March 13. Players will receive cash for unopened chests and prorated progress tied to current rewards tiers.
Customers will need a FanDuel Casino app to play poker in the near future. If you already have one, the transition should be smooth. Players creating a new FanDuel Casino account will not only net them a poker welcome offer, it’ll also net you 500 Bonus Spins & up to $1,000 back as a casino bonus.
An official launch date for the new hub has not been announced.
What it means in a shared liquidity state
New Jersey has been part of shared liquidity since 2017 through the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). PokerStars currently shares player pools between New Jersey and Michigan.
Because NJ is already connected to interstate liquidity, this transition is less about expanding player pools and more about operational alignment.
Still, integration under FanDuel could strengthen PokerStars’ marketing reach in one of the most competitive iGaming markets in the country.
Cross-product promotions — such as sports wagering-to-poker bonuses — become easier when brands operate under one account system. That could help the poker operator compete more aggressively against BetMGM Poker and WSOP in the state.
What NJ players should watch
Players don’t need to cash out or panic. The change is primarily backend.
However, it’s worth:
- Confirming your FanDuel account details
- Monitoring email updates about migration timing
- Reviewing rewards balances before March 13
For now, New Jersey’s poker ecosystem remains intact. But behind the scenes, Flutter is tightening its grip on how its U.S. brands operate — and PokerStars is next in line.
