Electric Poker has lived up to its name in other states, which is why DraftKings is bringing the exciting game to New Jersey. The company announced the launch in the Garden State on Tuesday.

DraftKings first brought the game to Michigan in August and then Pennsylvania in October 2024. New Jersey marks the third online casino state in which the title is available for players.

Despite it being Electric Poker, players can find the game simply at DraftKings online casino. There is no additional account or login information needed.

DraftKings is one of the top iGaming platforms in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey. Jason March, VP of iGaming Marketing and Operations, believes the game can thrive in the Garden State. He said in a statement emailed to PlayNJ:

“Since launching Electric Poker in August, the reception from DraftKings Casino players has been very positive, leading to the expansion of the exclusive product to New Jersey.
“We’re excited to be able to offer this exceptional title to more customers, delivering them a one-of-a-kind, innovative game and a first-class online poker experience.”

New Jersey has had online poker for more than a decade, but got Electric Poker after Pennsylvania and Michigan. It could be because of the market already being well-established in the Garden State.

Specifics about Electric Poker

Electric Poker is based on standard No Limit Texas Hold ’em rules. The twist includes a randomly generated prize pool, which is based on a prize multiplier. DraftKings describes the game as follows:

“Electric Poker is a Hyper Turbo, 3-handed no-limit Texas Hold’em poker tournament played with one  standard deck of 52 cards. The prize pool for the tournament will be determined based on a random draw before the start of each tournament and can be from 2x to 10,000x your buy-in (“Prize Pool Multipliers”).”

The game includes blind levels that are two minutes long to get in as many hands as possible. It is a three-player jackpot sit-n-go tournament, with buy-ins ranging from $1 to $25.

Prize multipliers can be up to 10,000x. For example, a $10 Electric Poker tournament can pay out up to $100,000 if the 10,000x Prize Pool Multiplier is drawn.

How Electric Poker revenue will be counted

Despite Electric Poker being a poker game, the game is found on DraftKings’ online casino platform. No other barriers, such as log in information needed. However, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) counts the revenue as online poker in the Keystone State.

The New Jersey of Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) confirmed to PlayNJ Electric poker revenue will be counted as poker revenue, too.

There are banked and non-banked elements of Electronic Poker. Long-term, payouts should equal player contributions minus rake, so it’s non-banked in that sense. Yet, the randomization of the payouts mean it is house-banked in the short term.

New Jersey has three separate poker platforms, that share tables across other states because it is part of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). Those sites include:

The state also has Borgata Poker and Party Poker as other platforms. Adding Electric Poker to the mix is a win for customers in the Garden State.
