When it comes to the NJ online casino industry, Golden Nugget Online Gaming remains one of the market leaders. The continued success and popularity of Golden Nugget online casino has a lot to do with it.
For July alone, GNOG reported $33.5 million in Internet gaming revenue. Borgata, led by BetMGM and its namesake brand, was the only license holder to fare better with $36.5 million.
At the same time, Golden Nugget is one of those operators always thinking about the future. Whether it be a new slot title like Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen or expanding its live dealer offerings.
As far as the latter goes, GNOG is close to completing its live dealer studio expansion. During this week’s second quarter earnings call, the company said the expanded space is expected to be online by the end of the third quarter.
More details on Golden Nugget live dealer studio expansion
Regular Golden Nugget Atlantic City visitors may or may not realize they pass the studio every time they arrive on property via the self-parking garage entrance.
It was actually the first live dealer studio to open in the United States, ahead of Pennsylvania and Michigan where the online casino industry got off to later starts.
The date, or trivia question answer, is Aug. 4, 2016.
According to the press release, the new project is a 1,800 square foot expansion, and it will increase the capacity from 18 to 33 tables. There were no updates regarding the new breakdown of live table games.
PlayNJ got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour in early 2020.
The Golden Nugget live dealer studio currently consists of:
- Nine active blackjack tables
- One baccarat
- One casino hold’em
- One roulette
- One unlimited blackjack
GNOG strong second quarter and DraftKings deal
The Atlantic City studio update was just a small piece of this month’s bigger GNOG news.
In terms of quarterly earnings, the company reported $31.7 million in revenue, representing a 27.7% increase from the same period last year. It increases the first half of 2021 total by 38.6% to $58.4 million.
Once again, this isn’t the biggest recent GNOG headline. That honor belongs to DraftKings announcing a $1.5-billion deal to acquire Golden Nugget Online Gaming. Pending regulatory and stockholder approval, the deal is expected to close during the first quarter of 2022.
Once completed, one of NJ’s top online casino operators will be under the same corporate umbrella as one of the nation’s top sports betting brands.
Other than that, there isn’t much GNOG news to share.
