As the New Jersey online casino market heads into 2026, there isn’t much that’s slowing the industry down. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) reported on Tuesday that operators produced $258.9 million in January revenue.
Last month’s strong totals were a 5.2% decrease from December, which was the all-time record at $273.2 million. On a year-over-year basis, the market grew 16.8% in January.
Operators set early pace
Despite a drop-off from last month, iGaming platforms are already well-positioned. With New Jersey online casino revenue nearly $259 million to start the year, it is already on pace to eclipse $3 billion in yearly revenue.
Over the last several years, it has delivered the following results:
- 2021: $1.37 billion
- 2022: $1.66 billion
- 2023: $1.92 billion
- 2024: $2.39 billion
- 2025: $2.91 billion
Should operators continue at this bar, it’ll set a new record in 2026. February and March could be lucrative months, with the latter usually the better of the two.
‘Third-party’ brands make up majority of revenue
For the first time, the DGE broke up iGaming and sports revenue by the following categories:
- Third-party
- Joint Venture
- Affiliate
- Casino
The DGE named seven brands in the “third-party” category that “are operated by entities that have a contract with a casino or racetrack for market access.”
- FanDuel Casino
- DraftKings Casino
- Fanatics Casino
- BetRivers Casino
- bet365 Casino
- Golden Nugget Casino
- theScore Casino
Those brands named together accounted for 54.7% of the of the iGaming revenue. The DGE also lists operators with under 1% market share in the third-party category.
The third-party operators, together, made up 67.6% of the entire online gambling revenue.
Online revenue continues to outshine retail
During the harsh winters of New Jersey, and the popularity of online gambling, iGaming is the preferred method of gaming during these months.
Atlantic City casinos produced only $213.3 million last month. Jane Bokunewicz, faculty director at Stockton University School of Business, talked about the popularity of online gambling:
“Internet gaming continues to grow in popularity among gamblers, and as it more frequently surpasses brick-and-mortar gaming revenues on a monthly basis it becomes more important than ever as a revenue stream.
“With casinos often relying on third-party operators to manage their internet gaming sites, it seems that much of the benefit of this growing segment is experienced outside of Atlantic City.”
Internet gambling is likely to lead the pack in the Garden State until the summertime months.
