Another winter month has Atlantic City casinos playing catch up to the online vertical. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement reported that the retail industry produced $202.9 million in February revenue.
Properties declined in revenue on both a month-over-month and year-over-year basis at 4.9% and 0.3%, respectively.
Down month for South Jersey
Atlantic City finished behind New Jersey online casinos once again, for a fourth straight month. Online platforms posted $251.8 million in February revenue.
The weather certainly could have contributed to the month-over-month decline for Atlantic City. The city faced a blizzard towards the end of February, which dumped 16.9 inches at the Atlantic City airport.
Jane Bokunewicz, faculty director at Stockton University School of Business, said in an emailed statement to PlayNJ:
“Amid a harsher winter than in recent years, Atlantic City’s casino operators saw a modest decline in brick-and-mortar gross gaming revenue in February 2026 compared to February 2025.
“The same weather that may have suppressed brick-and-mortar revenues also likely gave internet gaming a small boost.
“This boost, while still not quite enough to surpass December 2025’s record single-month internet gross gaming revenue, did result in a fourth consecutive month of internet gaming revenues exceeding revenues from traditional land-based operations.”
Slightly ahead of 2025 pace
A stronger January put the market ahead of the 2025 pace for the first two months. Last year, properties recorded $413.5 million two months in.
This year, casinos have posted $416.2 million through February 2026, reflecting an increase of 0.7% compared to the prior year-to-date period.
It’s been a strong two months of 2026, considering the area was hit with a blizzard in February.
There are brighter days, and warmer weather, ahead for the Atlantic City market. The industry can start to gain ground on the online sector and perhaps pass it in the summer months of June, July and August.
